Now that the holidays are behind us, let's look forward to what is going on this month...
We've got two major shootouts underway, one for premium class 1920x1200 projectors meant for large conference room use. The other focuses on interactive ultra-short throw models designed for classroom use. As you may know from my last posting here, we were planning to get the conference room shootout posted this week. That shootout will feature four models in the WUXGA class, all in the 6500 to 7500 lumen brightness range, from Epson, Mitsubishi, NEC, and Panasonic. Unfortunately illness and some unforeseen personal events over the holidays have slowed us up a bit and we are behind schedule. We will get it posted asap, and hopefully by the end of this coming week.
The second shootout focuses on the latest WXGA resolution interactive projectors intended for classroom use, including two from Dell, and one each from BenQ, Epson, Smart, and Sony. This shootout is still on track for sometime in mid-January.
In addition to these shootouts, Bill has been working on the BenQ W1070, a low priced widescreen projector for video gaming and home entertainment. I am still expecting that review to post next week.
The huge Consumer Electronics Show (CES) happens again in Las Vegas next week. We generally do not see a lot of projectors being unveiled at this show, but there will be some news of interest to home entertainment enthusiasts that we are already aware of. We'll report what is happening as soon as the information is made public.
