Epson Pro Cinema 6050UB
4K PRO-UHD 3LCD Projector Review

Rob Sabin, May 24, 2019

Epson-PC-6050UB-Front

Editor's Note: The Epson Pro Cinema 6050UB 4K PRO-UHD 3LCD Projector is a close sister product for two other Epson models, the Home Cinema 5050UB and the Home Cinema 5050UBe. Our detailed review of the Epson Home Cinema 5050UBe found here serves for all three of these models, and all are designated as a ProjectorCentral Editor's Choice. They are identical except as noted in this summary of key differences:

  • The Epson Home Cinema 5050UB, priced at $2,999, is the base model for this product group, offering 2,600 lumens of rated brightness, Epson's proprietary UltraBlack (UB) technology contributing to a rated 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and a white cabinet. It is available for direct purchase by consumers.

  • The Epson Home Cinema 5050UBe, priced at $3,299, adds an outboard wireless HDMI transmitter and internal wireless HDMI receiver based on the WirelessHD (WiHD) industry standard. It is otherwise exactly the same as the Home Cinema 5050UB and shares its specifications and performance attributes. It is available in a white cabinet for direct consumer purchase.

  • The Epson Pro Cinema 6050UB, priced at $3,999, is a slightly modified version of the Epson Home Cinema 5050UB that is available in a black cabinet through AV integrators/installers. It offers the same 2,600 lumens of brightness, but a modest claimed boost in rated contrast ratio to 1,200,000:1 thanks to Epson identifying champion projector samples during 5050 production and designating those units for the commercial channel. Additionally, it adds lockable ISF Day and Night modes for use in professional calibration, and an extra aspect ratio setting for use with a standalone anamorphic lens. The 6050UB also ships with a ceiling mount, an extra lamp for future replacement, and a cable cover that snaps over the rear connection cavity.
