A new portable business projector has been released by Epson. The 880X is a 1080p (1920x1080) portable smart projector rated at 3,300 lumens of color and white brightness. It uses 3-chip LCD technology and a traditional lamp that has a lamp life of up to 6,000 hours in Normal mode and 12,000 hours in ECO mode. Genuine replacement lamps (model ELPLP97) cost $59. Epson lists its contrast ratio as up to 16,000:1.

Epson 880X front angle

The Epson 880X is capable of projecting images up to a 300-inch diagonal and has a throw ratio of 1.21-1.63:1. For easy setup, a built-in sensor can automatically adjust the vertical keystone to square up the image. There's also a digital zoom range of 1-1.35 to help fit it to your projection surface. A native 16:9 image can be resized to either 16:10 or 4:3.

Included is Epson's ELPAP12 streaming player loaded with the Android TV OS, so when not in meetings, the 880X can stream apps like Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and YouTube. The Android TV OS platform also allows for Chromecast capability from mobile devices.

Epson 880X connections

If you need to connect an external device via cables, there's a single HDMI, USB Type-A (the flat one), and USB Type-B (the square one). There's a built-in 2 watt speaker or a separate speaker can be connected with a 3.5 mm audio out or via Bluetooth.

The chassis measures 3.6 x 11.9 x 9.9 inches (HWD) including the feet and weighs only 6.6 pounds. Included with the Epson 880X is a custom-fit case to protect it while carrying between locations.
