The Hitachi ED-S3170A Projector is a SVGA Portable Projector. This lamp based projector is capable of displaying 1,700 Lumens at its brightest setting with a native resolution of 800x600 . The internal 3LCD technology is an innovative 3-chip design that sets itself apart by delivering vibrant, true-to-life images with better color brightness and a wider color gamut. This projector was first available for purchase in September 2003 and has been by Hitachi. The Hitachi ED-S3170A was also marketed as the Liesegang dv 255, 3M MP7650, and the Dukane ImagePro 8049B.

ANSI LUMENS  is the most commonly accepted industry standard brightness measurement. The ANSI lumen rating measures the brightest white that a projector can produce by averaging nine light meter measurements taken across the projected image.
