Has worked well in an academic presentation setting for years.

Any Problems: I measured the fan noise level at 40db at a distance of 1m. Not loud, but certainly audible. This is one of the main driving factors behind our decision to upgrade.

The image quality is terrible. Colors are not accurate, images look washed out, and not clear. I always have to have my clients look at the laptop in order for them to see the images clearly and with the right colors. I have owned this projector for a number of years and no matter what adjustments I make, everything has a green or yellow cast to it. I sent it off thinking it needed repair, but it came back the same as before. So disappointed.

Any Problems: It has a long cooling off process before it can be used again.

I purchased this projector to do big screen projection at outdoor shows and it works perfectly - I bought it in 2005 and have used it ever since at major shows including shows begining at 7 p.m. - 6 a.m. This is a very reliable projector with very good quality.

Any Problems: The only problem I have is that the power on/of button on the remote control is faulty however all other features and buttons on the remote control works perfectly.

The XL8U feels solid and well-built, but it is not designed for portablity. This is one of the worst projectors you can get for reliability. There are two fans in the unit that break down quite often, leaving the projector useless. Otherwise it works good when it is not in the repair shop. Lamp life is not a problem because the unit will fail long before the lamp burns out.

Any Problems: Fan parts break off inside the projector, numerous electrical problems. Mitsubishi repair centers can take up to 6 months to fix.

Used this for 17 nights in a row for seminars and never let me down. I have been impressed with color, brightness and overall features on this. There are MANY settings to make your picture just right. I like the horizontal keystone so you can set the projector to the side if needed. Good unit for the money. It is however one of the ugliest projectors I have ever owned... a square box with a hole.

Any Problems: None yet.
