I bought this unit a couple of years ago and this is my first and only unit so far, so I don't have any comparisons. I paid $6500 for it. It hums a bit (we have it installed right above where we are sitting) the lamp light came on, but as there were less than 1000 hours used, and picture quality was perfect, we have kept using it with the lamp light on. Image and brightness is good for a semi lit environment.

Any Problems: the lamp warning light came on and we could not see why. We bought another lamp and still have not needed to use the new lamp, and we have had the unit for 2 years used everyday.
