Write a ReviewThis review is a follow-up to Ken's review, regarding fan noise. There's a power "efficient" mode, which when activated, slightly lowers the light output and slows the fan (& noise). Light output is still great, and noise not a problem.
Any Problems: None! The picture (brightness/blacks/colors) is outstanding! The HD picture is great, but we use it 99% for normal DVD's (especially anamorphic). I've told others my wife would divorce me before she would allow me to sell this projector. We love it - it is truly amazing!
The black level on this machine is excellent. While many have expressed the audible noise from the fan it is not a distraction from your viewing experience. I did not notice any rainbows or dithering with this machine which cold be do to its 7 segment 5 time speed color wheel. The picture it puts out is razor sharp with processing of high definition sources such as blu-ray and hd-dvd. It also did a fantastic job with regular dvd movies as well. I was using a Sony VPL-HS20 prior to purchasing this unit and I considered doing a shoot out but after turning this thing on there was no comparison to be made. It blows away everything I have seen so far in the home theater market so far which includes many of the 1080P projectors out there.
Any Problems: No problems to speak of so far. I do notice that I get upset when I have to turn it off! I hope this helps.
I wasnt sure what to expect from a 720p projector when I purchased one for my showroom, but I was incredibly surprised once I set it up. It took very little setup on my end to make this projector look excelent. The colors were very accurate and the lines were super sharp. I was merely using a progressive scan dvd player and the picture looked HD. In-fact, the picture looked better on a 110" screen with the projector than it did using the same DVD player on a 40" Samsung LCD. AMAZING!!! The video processing of this projector is truely amazing. Even in a fairly bright room, the picture was PLENTY bright! I would HIGHLY recommend this projector, even above the new 1080P LCD projectors available now around the same price-point. Absolutely!
Any Problems: The only issue this projector may have for some is the lens. The throw is not the best. In order to achieve a 120" screen, the projector has to be almost 16' back from the screen. It would of been great if they made this projector with a short throw lens. Its important to keep the projector as close to the screen as possible to maintain brightness.
