Now over ten years old and been to the repair shop once for elective cleaning. Time consuming to setup the multitude of customizations available but once done and saved, the best quality picture compared to numerous others in homes, offices, and bars Ive seen.
Any Problems: Big and heavy which I see as a pro indicating quality but hard to find a ceiling mount that was stable and secure. The bulb is rated for 2000 hours on full power (eco=3000hrs) which is fine considering it's used almost every evening providing about a year of use. Hardest part is trying to find a reasonably priced "quality" bulb replacement. OEM bulbs being around $500+. Most of our bulbs cost $225 and if you find a proper supplier, will last the 2000 hours+. The cheap ones on eBay have lasted as little as 2hrs with the average $100 bulb lasting 150-200hrs.
Bought new in Aug. 2006. 3rd Sharp in succession in the past 10 years. Still on original bulb. Another dealer tried to sell me the Joe Kane Samsung 800. We A-B'd them side by side. Not enough difference to switch out. I couldn't be happier with this projector. More than my money's worth thus far. Question: What is Sharp going to do about 3D? Thanks, -Mike
Any Problems: None, except piano black finish will attract dust.
