ViewSonic Pro8100 User Reviews

Write a ReviewExcellent value for the money especially now that it's price has dropped. Power zoom, lens shift, and focus are features only found in PJs commanding a much higher price. Picture quality is outstanding. Menu is a little challenging but once PJ is set up, you don't need to go there much. Air filter could be improved and some have replaced w/ a vacuum cleaner filter w/ good results. Whether in Normal or Eco mode, this PJ is whisper quiet.
Any Problems: My first PJ had a dust blob (slight green spot) and would freeze upon turn-on about every 20 times. Others have experienced vertical and horizontal banding. The VB can be eliminated by unplugging after lamp cool down. However no fix has been found for HB. So a lot of folks are returning several times before getting a good unit. Other manufacturers have lots of problems also. Just do a lot of research.
excellent projector, i compare it with so many other types like pannasonic and epson , mitsubisi with eye demonstration the pro8100 is the best out of those so much real image, sharp, colorful, classy remote and shape. recommend to all
Any Problems: out of stock
Bright, sharp, good shadow detail, respectable but hardly exceptional black levels, and a good warranty, which is not a bad place to start. Excellent overall color and image richness after a proper calibration The Viewsonic's overall image fits more into the "lots of pop and wow factor" than the more subtle "film-like" group of projectors, but that's not a bad thing at all. Some seek perfection in an image, others want an image that just looks great, with a lot of sizzle
Any Problems: If Viewsonic improves the iris performance by firmware, the Viewsonic Pro8100 becomes an extremely formidable projector
the pro8100 is produce a vivid colour picture and thats very important for watching hd cable programs also provide the latest technology lcd silicon method . the pro8100 give more sharp images than panasonic ae-3000 and epson 6500. the new price is around 2000$ and that take the advantage from panasonic and epson , great piano black look and huge size that makes it super quite its very good projector
Any Problems: the iris problem was solved by the latest update indeed it was only notacible in very dark scene that have sudden white image like actor wearing white shirt in the night but no problem in action ones.
The picture is sharp on HD content however it is really quite poor on SD content. Other reviews have been critical of the auto-iris function which I think is fair however a firmware update has been released to fix the "bouncing" problem where the auto-iris would over compensate when transitioning between dark and light images. I too found the menu system confusing and poorly laid out. Overall, since the majority of my viewing is HD the projector image is pretty good. I got the projector at a price I simply couldn't get the competition at so I was prepared to make some concessions given the bang for $$$ equation.
Any Problems: Arrhhh. The first projector developed a couple of green spots somewhere in the lens assembly which were permanently projected on the screen. Almost as if some organic matter had been burnt onto the optics somewhere. This took three attempts to fix and a month out of commission which finally resulted in a replacement. Now, the new projector has permanent vertical banding and unbelievably bad motion judder when panning in movies or sports which seemingly has come from nowhere. Seriously unimpressed with the reliability so far. I'm now dreading sending this projector back!
