This projector confounded me for the first few months. First I couldn't stop noticing digital noise in the picture, then the color wheel started squeaking, plus I could never get the gamma levels correct. Then after a few hours the wheel stopped squeaking. Then after about 100 hours the digital noise disappeared. Then I realized my PC was outputting YPbPr and switched it to RGB and the gamma was finally fixed. Another hundred hours and I figured out the proper color settings and stopped adjusting them every power on. Now every time I start it up I am amazed at the picture. The brightness in eco mode is perfect in a dark room on a 100" screen. I am now at 1000 hours and I I should get at least another 3000, hell of a deal for the 700 dollars I paid.

Any Problems: The menu and settings are a nightmare. Seriously, I've had nightmares about getting the color right. Can't manage YPbPr gamma. Crushes blacks if you set it up wrong. The bulb is so bright it reveals digital noise until it loses some brightness. Color wheel squeaks for the first 30 hours. Has ridiculous, useless 1 watt speakers that advertise 2.0 channel to your HDMI device, making pass through setup annoying.

The overall experience with this projector has been fantastic. I upgraded from an Infocus X1 to this projector and am very pleased. Brightness, even in ECO mode is fantastic for my mixed use living room, it handles ambient light very well. I have this connect to a PC running XBMC which outputs in 1080p, projecting from a ceiling mount to a Daylite 100" screen. Other reviews mention digital noise, but I don't see anything like that at all, no rainbow effect either. I did adjust the colour as recommended in the official PC review and it does make a difference. Fan noise is very, very low and the 10w speakers work nicely as my rear surround speakers.

I finally purchased my own PRO8200 projector. its a brand new one, REALLY brand new one, with a manufacturing date of 3/11. i recived a remote with translucent keys, so the backlight is really helpfull also, i do not experince any problems of manufactor restets whatsoever. im off to play some MGS4 with my 160'' screen btw: this projector is BRIGHT, had to use eco mode so my eyes will be safe :3

Any Problems: what i have experinced is the ridiculous whining / chirping noise thats coming out of the fan. it started durning my first power up. so i let it run for ike 10 minutes, and then i moved to eco mode, where the noise suddenly stopped, to confrime i moved back to normal mode but the noise was gone. i waited 6 houres and turned the projector back on, just to find out that the noise is no more. i guess it happend due to the fact that this projector is new.

Beautiful color, good black levels, sharp picture, happy with projector so far.

Any Problems: Projector is reseting itself to factory settings every time it's turned on, so I am unable to fine-tune the settings(too time consuming for every time it's turned on). Viewsonic tech support is looking into issues. A few posters on AVS forum site experiencing same issue, they believe it's being caused by eco-mode setting, but have not reposted with what Viewsonic has told them yet. If Viewsonic can correct this issue, I fully expect to enjoy this projector for some time to come. If they can't/don't, projector will be going back to the retailer.
