What's one way to show your wares without taking up space to store them? Employ the services of a good 3D projection mapper. I can't stop thinking about all the possibilities for projectors and creative projection mapping in the retail arena. This video, however comes from a trade show environment where dollars and opportunity make it critical to look big in the smallest space possible.

3D Projection mapping on a wedding cake is so creative and alluring that if I were attending this wedding reception I might even forget to ask if the cake was chocolate. This couple chose to display a game of Donkey Kong animated by DJ and lighting company Posh Entertainment. If it had been my wedding we'd have used the 3D projector to display Galaga as playing that game was an integral part of our courtship. Great idea and very creative projection.

This wonderful Urbanscreen.com projection mapping production was sent by an architect friend of mine who tried to explain to me the meaning of parallax as it pertains to this video. Watch as the projected stripes bend the building's facade.

Everyone is talking about Juan and how happy he makes people. My jaded soul's first response is "It's an ad for LG." But still, it should not detract from the happiness that video artists can bring in so many ways when they get creative with projectors and help the art of 3D projection mapping to evolve. That is the core of the viral success of this ad.

I hope to see more of these festivals all over the world. The Screen City Festival is taking place later this month (October 25th – 27th 2013.) in Stavanger/Sandnes Norway. The whole concept comes from an attempt to study the moving image presented in public spaces, on the city`s facades, shop windows and urban venues in order take Stavanger out of its urban context through the vehicle of media art.more

Production House Bot & Dolly have released this short film which I have officially placed at the top of my list of my favorite videos ever featured here in Creative Projection. "Box" is like nothing I have seen before. It uses robot powered projection mapping on moving objects to make the viewer consider the synthesis of real and digital space. The short film documents a live performance, captured entirely by camera. If you watch on thing today let it be this so you can levitate, teleport and escape. And remember "Any significantly advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." Arthur C. Clarke

Roger Waters' "The Wall Live" Concert tour is winding down after 27 performances across Europe. In this brief video, the co-founder of Pink Floyd, expresses his excitement over where projection technology was back in the 1970's (when he started touring) and the magnificent heights it is reaching now.more

In short, this video is just cool. Viewers get to see how 3D projection mapping techniques give life to inanimate objects. A world is created from a stone cast of a human male bust.

This video goes behind the scenes during the creation of an unspecified advertisement. It gives great insight into the mapping process and the results that can be achieved with this technology. It begs the question: will 3D projection mapping up the ante for the quality and creativity of TV commercials and advertising in general while reducing the overall expenditure required?

This work by Italy's Luca Agnani Digital lighting, 3D & Visual Mapping artist touched my soul. He has taken the works of Vincent Van Gogh and breathed a special kind of air into them that brings them off the canvas and into life. You can see the town awaken and feel you are a participant rather than an observer.
