I hope to see more of these festivals all over the world. The Screen City Festival is taking place later this month (October 25th – 27th 2013.) in Stavanger/Sandnes Norway. The whole concept comes from an attempt to study the moving image presented in public spaces, on the city`s facades, shop windows and urban venues in order take Stavanger out of its urban context through the vehicle of media art.more

There is not much to share about this delightful display of 3D projection mapping in the arts sphere other than it comes from the Stavanger Concert Hall in Norway where Mozart's Magic Flute was performed last September. Technicians used Motion Graphics with Adobe After Effects and modeling and Softimage XSI for the 3D modeling and animation.

There is some great stuff coming out of St Petersburg. This is the second 3D projection mapping example I've seen in the last couple of days produced by Russia's Illuminarium3000. It is not simply that I was drawn to their idea of creating an architectural form out of a human face;it is how ably they convey the truths about the masks we wear and the nature of the human psyche through a very impressive projection mapping installation.

This iPad app called Tagtool certainly falls into the "creative projection" category because it transforms an iPad into a fine instrument of projection art. One can only imagine what could be achieved when each member of a creative team with iPad in hand is turned loose to paint and animate. The messaging possibilities could encompass the subversive to the sublime.more

They call it sugar art....and it is. We're not talking store bought cookies here, but the ones in the bakery. You know.....those perfectly decorated gingerbread men, cakes, pies and other delectable edibles?more

3D projection mapping illuminates the facade of the Fine Art School of Nimes. This Cosmo AV production needs little introduction. It simply exemplifies larger than life image creation through large format projection. In short--it is pure entertainment.

Projectors and projection technology have wowed the crowds at yet another major music venue. This year it was at the Grammys when Carrie Underwood wore the technology in the form of a large skirted Roberto Cavalli gown that became a four and half foot projector screen displaying moving images and flickering colors.

It is curious how a 3D projector mapping shrubs and small trees results in visual art so ....natural. This projection mapping shown at Digital Life 2012 in the Romaeuropa Festival was like watching a dream reveal itself. My home is surrounded by forest and I enjoyed the projection artists portray a day's first light in a futuristic way that changed my perception of space.

This was an ambitious setting for 3D projection mapping but PostPanic--the Amsterdam based creative studio pulled it off masterfully. The cylindrical shape of a distinctive building in the area provided the canvas for a four minute abstract and graphic interpretation of the story of "The Human Age."more
