Two New NEC Classroom Projector Offerings

It is the season of new classroom projector releases and NEC announced two new models—entry level mobile projectors both of which are less that $600 MSRP. The NEC V260X and the V260 are 2600 lumen DLP’s with a contrast ratio of 2000:1. The former has an XGA native resolution and the latter, SVGA.

What is especially interesting is the attention being placed on so called “eco” features like the 3 second quick start, auto “power on” and direct ”power off.” I’m not sure how significant the impact of these components will be in the big picture, but I am encouraged by the thought processes that designed them and the consumers who are showing they value energy saving features in classroom projectors and other classroom technology. Of course these projectors, like others on the market, offer a filter free design which is an attractive feature in a classroom projector that saves school districts time and money, especially if they make a quantity purchase of the same model to outfit multiple classrooms.
