Epson has announced two new 1080p 3LCD additions to their BrightLink line of laser projectors. The BrightLink 1485Fi is available now and the BrightLink 1480Fi will be released in March 2020. BrightLink projectors are designed with the classroom in mind. These projectors can be displayed on existing whiteboards and allow the use of an interactive stylus, or in the case of the 1485Fi, both stylus and touch interactivity (finger gesture recognition require the use of Windows 7, Windows 8, or Mac OS X or later).
Details about the 1480Fi are still forthcoming, but we do know that it and the 1485Fi are rated for 5,000 ANSI-equivalent lumens from a laser light source, with equal white and color brightness thanks to Epson's usual 3LCD architecture. The laser engine requires no maintenance up to 20,000 hours of use. Both have 1080p resolution (achieved through pixel-shifting of 1366x720 native imagers). The 1480Fi will display content up to a 100-inch diagonal at 16:9, while the 1485Fi has additional aspect ratio support for 16:10, 16:6, and 21:9 for ultra-wide display up to 120 inches. That extra image space allows for more interactivity with students.

The BrightLink 1485Fi has the option of a HDBaseT control pad that supports video, audio, and interactive functions. Using the free Epson iProjection software, up to 50 devices can connect simultaneously to share student content. Projector status and the control of basic functions (such as power on/off) can be monitored by school employees through Epson EasyMP. Teachers can also display content on any projector connected to the school network.
A limited three-year warranty covers the projectors and includes next business day replacement with shipping both ways included. A one year subscription and support for the SMART Learning Suite is also included. The BrightLink 1485Fi is available for the education pricing of $2,850 (MSRP of $3,390). Pricing for the BrightLink 1480Fi will be released closer to the launch date.
