News and Updates

Your amazing patience has finally been rewarded. We have finally posted the long awaited review of the Sony HS20. As seems to happen frequently, an equipment problem put the review process unexpectedly on ice. But with the new lamp that was provided by Sony, the projector brightened up considerably and put forth a great showing. A good projector all around, and a magnificent unit for HDTV.
By the way, after posting the review I was informed by an HS20 owner that the unit does not come with the color-correcting filter that I discussed in the review. Since Sony included the filter with the review sample, we assumed it was part of the product. We are waiting on a clarification from Sony on this issue, and once we get it I will update the review on this item as appropriate.
Among the most common questions we get is "which screen should I use?" "Is A better than B?" "Are they worth the money?" In order to provide our readers with the best information possible we have initiated a major screen review that will evaluate relative performance of both white and high contrast (gray) screens from the major suppliers in the market today. This will be an extensive review and commentary on screen technology to be published later this spring. I won't predict a publication date until we get closer to completion, but I wanted to give you a heads-up that we are working on this very important topic. Our objective will be to make it easy for you to evaluate the benefits of each product and make informed decisions for your home theater.
