Sony’s New Superbright™ LCD Projector Ideal For High-End Fixed Installation Market
ORLANDO, (INFOCOMM) -- June 10, 1999 -- Sony Electronics announced today a new 3,200
ANSI lumen LCD-based projector (model VPL-FE100), designed to provide bright,
uniform, high quality images from a range of diverse sources. The projector's
flexibility makes it ideal for both medium and large venues, and can be double
or triple stacked for greater brightness output and redundancy.
The VPL-FE100 is a LCD-based product for fixed installations
requiring high quality, multiple scanning projection systems, such as
boardrooms, meeting rooms and auditoriums. The projector is easily adaptable to
screen sizes from 40 inches to 500 inches (viewable area, measured diagonally).
Sony's unique quadruple lamp system, consisting of four 120W UHP
lamps provides an added element of reliability. Even if one lamp should fail,
the unit will continue to operate effectively.
"The VPL-FE100 is the culmination of a major commitment to
research and development," said Clint Hoffman, senior marketing manager for
display systems at Sony Electronics' Broadcast and Professional Company.
"One of the benchmark features is a Sony-developed 3D gamma correction
system which gives video images a natural look by providing excellent uniformity
across the entire projector screen, making for fast setup with consistent
performance in the rental arena."
Brightness, Uniformity and Reliability
With a light output of 3,200 ANSI lumens, the VPL-FE100 produces a
very bright image, even in high ambient light conditions. Using three Sony
1.8-inch pSi TFT LCD panels, the projector offers true SXGA resolution, and the
built-in scan converter accepts signals from conventional video up to UXGA (fV =
up 75Hz) for maximum display versatility.
"A 3D comb filter and Digital Reality CreationÔ (DRC)
technology combine to provide premium video images from conventional video
signals without the need for expensive optical image enhancing
accessories," noted Hoffman. "The VPL-FE100 is a technically advanced
projector offering flexibility and reliability to the customer. This
reliability, along with the multiple input sources and easy set up, help to set
the standards for worry-free presentation."
Versatile Application Increases Appeal
With the VPL-FE100, the user has the option of eight specialized
lenses. These easily interchangeable lenses range from short focal lenses to
long-throw (zoom) lenses, allowing a range of throw distances from 12' to
100' for a 200" screen (viewable area, measured diagonally), depending on
the operating environment or application. The projector also offers a lens shift
function, enabling quick and easy vertical positioning of the image.
The projector can be remotely controlled via RS-232, RS-422 or PJ
COM, conforming to RS-485, interfaces and features a flexible interface panel
that can be customized for each installation and application.
The VPL-FE100 will be available in August from select resellers. Sony offers technical support via its National Technical Assistance Network phone line, 201-833-5333, and intuitive website www.sony.com/displaysystems.
