SANYO's New Ultra-Portable LCD Front Projector Delivers Crisp Images for Business and Classroom Presentations

Press Release  |  Nov 11, 2008

Security functions prevent theft from public or common areas

CHATSWORTH, Calif., Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- SANYO, one of the world's largest manufacturers of projectors, introduces the PLC-XW57, an ultra-portable 3LCD projector for the education and business presentations market.

Offering a highly flexible presentation solution, the PLC-XW57 is completely portable, weighing a mere 6.4 lbs., and takes up a minimal amount of space with a small footprint of 13" W x 3.15" H x 9.3" D.

Rated at 2000 lumens, the PLC-XW57 is outfitted with a 200-watt UHP lamp for outstanding brightness and well-balanced color reproduction. A 3D Automatic Uniformity Correction Control (AUCC) circuit ensures uniformity, balancing uneven color and brightness gradations for a more natural image.

Installation and operation is quick and fast due to the 1/4x to 16x digital zoom, which makes it possible to project an image as large as 100" (diagonally) from a range of 11 to 14 feet. To compensate for keystone (trapezoidal) picture distortion, the PLC-XW57 provides a vertical keystone correction with a range of +/- 20-degrees. The blackboard (green color) mode allows the use of a classroom blackboard to be used as a projection screen. In this mode, the projector automatically adjusts the colors to make images look strikingly similar to those projected on a traditional white screen.

SANYO's Countdown or Immediate projection modes can be set at start-up. The Countdown Mode waits for the lamp to reach sufficient brightness before it begins projecting an image. The Immediate Mode starts projecting as soon as the power is turned on, even when the optimal level of brightness has not been reached yet. Plus, when your presentation is complete, there is no need to wait for the projection lamp to cool down like conventional projectors. Just disconnect the power cord after your presentation, and go.

Additionally, the PIN code lock function on the PLC-XW57 prevents anyone other than the authorized owner or projection operator from using the projector. The key lock function is set in the operation menu and locks operation from the controls on top of the projector and the supplied remote control.

This projector offers a full suite of inputs and is compatible with UXGA / WXGA / SXGA+ / XGA / SVGA / VGA / MAC analog computer inputs. Two D-Sub terminals for computer input are provided and one of them can be changed to a monitor output terminal. Digital Realized Interpolation Technology (DRIT) is used to support input signals with resolutions from UXGA to VGA by compressing/decompressing signals. The projector is compatible with all incoming SD and HDTV (except 1080p) signals including 480i, 480p, 575i, 575p, 720p, 1035i, and 1080i.

Fan noise has been minimized in the PLC-XW57 with SANYO's Intelligent Fan Operation Linear Control System that reduces fan noise according to changes of the unit's internal temperature.

"The compact and highly portable PLC-XW57 is a terrific tool for teachers and business executives," says Mark Holt, the Vice President and General Manager for SANYO's Presentation Technologies Division. "This projector is flexible and simple to operate, projecting crisp and detailed images in the boardroom or the classroom."
