Mitsubishi Presentation Products Announces World's First All-Purpose LCD Projector

CYPRESS, Calif., Sept. 1, 1999--The X300 provides the presentation community a single choice for all applications-portable or fixed.  Mitsubishi Presentation Products, creator of the industry's broadest line of award-winning projection and conference room display products, Wednesday announced the most flexible and affordable addition to its presentation product line, the X300 LCD projector.

Weighing in at just 13 pounds and priced at $11,495 the X300, with 2000 ANSI lumens, offers a fuller feature set than most fixed installation projectors in addition to rugged portability that allows it to travel comfortably when it has to.

In designing the X300, we took the best and most popular features from our projector products in the industry's three dominant projector categories -- the fixed/installed unit, the portable unit and the ultra-portable device," said James Chan, Mitsubishi's product manager for projectors. "Then, we engineered these features into the most efficient form factor for the greatest number of applications and, voila, came up with the X300, the first member of the industry's newest category -- the `all-purpose' projector."

All-Purpose" Feature Set

Enhanced Lamp Technology -- The X300 provides 2000 ANSI lumens brightness, the brightest of any projector at this weight. And, for the "all-purpose" user, the lamp for the X300 is a user-changeable, 190-watt long-life, short arc, high efficiency lamp. This sturdy and enhanced presentation technology creates clear and crisp images from 40 to 300 inches, perfect for any of the diverse lighting situations typical of most companies' presentation venues, whether they require front, rear or ceiling mount installations for any size room and audience.

Picture-in-Picture -- To make the most of any presentation and add significant dazzle and capabilities, the X300 is equipped with Mitsubishi's popular picture-in-picture feature. Any two input sourced images, such as text and video, may be displayed active simultaneously. The window is movable and sizeable to support even the most creative presentation design.

CineView(TM) Video Line Doubler -- A built-in 2D Y/C separation line doubler with the most advance algorithms enables the X300 to display the most beautiful video quality that rivals today's most high-end video televisions satisfying even the most demanding home theater enthusiasts. It supports worldwide video standards and is HDTV input-ready up to 720P/1080i.

Point-`n-Zoom Digital Magnification -- Like the best of the fixed installation units, the X300 allows presenters to select and enlarge areas of the display requiring special attention such as spreadsheets, photographic images or highly detailed CAD/CAM schematics for full-screen, easy-view displays. The zoom feature also enlarges the selected area to full screen size and brings the viewing audience up close to the information.

Worldwide Accessibility -- It doesn't matter where the show takes place, as the X300's connection capabilities include worldwide voltage sensing, PAL and SECAM in addition to NTSC video formats and comes with an intuitive on-screen, graphic user interface complete in seven different languages.

"All-Purpose" Specifications

The X300 uses three polysilicon active-matrix LCD panels to produce a 1024 x 768 true XGA resolution, or a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024 to allow for larger workstation compatibility. The X300 also has a horizontal scanning range from 15 to 82 kHz and vertical from 50 to 85 Hz, image reversal, and an RS232C serial port to facilitate seamless and simple integration with popular control systems. In addition to the foreign video formats, the X300 supports S-VHS, and NTSC domestically as well as computer inputs from both Apple(R) and IBM(R) platforms and the most commonly used computer graphics standards.

For even the most novice presenter the X300 comes with one-touch screen set-up that recognizes the input format and automatically optimizes the display. The new projector is also backed by a three-year Emergency Roadside Assistance (ERA) Program, providing a three-year parts and labor warranty, a 30-day warranty on the light source, and 7-day toll-free support.
