MITSUBISHI DIGITAL ELECTRONICS AMERICA ADDS LONG LAMP-LIFE MODELS TO ITS LINE OF EDUCATION PROJECTORS

IRVINE, Calif., June 9, 2009 — Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America’s Presentation Products Division, known for award-winning, high-quality, high-definition presentation and display products, continues its leadership position in the education market with two new data projectors, the XD280U and XD250U models. With advanced features and a substantial, one-year or 500-hour lamp warranty and remarkably long lamp life (estimated to last up to 6000* hours), these projectors are ideal for any budget-conscious school or training facility. Mitsubishi’s XD280U and XD250U projectors offer a 10-watt speaker and audio mix capability, closed captioning decoder, visual public addressing (PA) feature, user-friendly menus, and low cost of ownership. This combination of audio-visual features can make teaching more effective thanks to technology that is easy to set up and use.

Mitsubishi’s new XD280U and XD250U projectors blast 3000 and 2700 lumens respectively and, along with ease of use, offer features that are important to AV and education professionals including remote management, real-time visual message display, top-loading lamp access, digital input and a longer lamp life.

These new projectors include a built-in RJ-45 port for remote operation and management over a LAN, WAN or the Internet. The status of multiple projectors, remote operation of the on/off power switch, image input switch and other functions can be monitored with Mitsubishi’s ProjectorView Global+ (offered as optional software.).

Simultaneous real-time Message Display via the new Visual PA (public address) feature allows an administrator to remotely create and distribute messages in real time to projectors connected to the LAN. This is ideal for broadcasting important information to multiple rooms across campus and is especially useful as part of a school’s emergency management system.

A top-loading lamp design allows users to replace lamps simply and easily, whether mounted in the ceiling or sitting on a desktop. The new XD280U and XD250U include dual 15-pin computer inputs as well as S-video and RCA video inputs. They also come with HDMI™ inputs for digital sources so users can switch between a computer presentation and video with just the press of a button.

Mitsubishi’s XD280U AND XD250U are designed with two separate 3.5mm audio inputs as well as variable audio out 3.5mm used to control volume levels, along with a special built-in audio mixer so the projector can simultaneously project audio from two sources, such as a DVD and a third-party wireless microphone. This “Audio Mix” feature allows users to adjust the volume levels of each input for its 10W built-in speaker. With this configuration, an instructor can orally interject key points during a presentation and be heard over the video.

When the speaker is not in use, the projectors have an ultra-hushed noise level of only 28 dBA in low mode; students hear the instructor and not the annoying hum of a fan. The projectors also offer closed captioning from a supported source. With the touch of a button, the built-in decoder transforms words into subtitles projected on the screen, an important function for hearing-impaired students.

To lessen the impact on our natural resources, Mitsubishi has engineered energy-efficient, earth-friendly features into all of its new projector models. The projectors are built with lead-free solder and with a low standby power mode of less than one watt. They are also paint free.”

The XD280U AND XD250U are native XGA (1024 x 768 pixels) resolution projectors that use filter-free, Texas Instruments’ DLP® technology with a semi-sealed design that helps decrease dust accumulation. Eliminating the filter saves on maintenance costs, and a long lamp-life rated to last up to an estimated 6000* hours (in low mode) reduces the need for constant lamp replacement. The projector also features a six-segment color wheel with BrilliantColor®, which creates clear, vivid images from a computer or video signal.

Mitsubishi’s new projector is ultra-portable at only 7.3 pounds and has important security features with password menu and display locks, plus an anti-theft hook design that can lock the projector in place to help deter theft. It has an RS232 connection for compatibility with third party control devices and support for a computer loop-out for external monitor display.

These two new models include intelligent digital auto-keystone support for easy, automated picture adjustments. The instant shut off feature allows users to power down the projectors quickly, without damage to the units. This enables a quick exit after class, permitting more efficient scheduling of classrooms and conference rooms.

The projectors are currently available and come with Mitsubishi’s three-year limited warranty on parts and labor plus a one-year limited warranty on the lamp. The XD280U and XD250U are also covered by Mitsubishi’s award-winning three year Express Replacement Assistance (ERA) Program, a nationwide comprehensive service provided for units under warranty that offers next business-day replacement for down units.
