Sanyo Introduces Two Ultra-Short-Throw Projector Mounts With A Powerful Integral Audio System

Press Release  |  Feb 9, 2010

Onboard 2x25 watt amplifier and dual high-efficiency two-way speakers with 5" woofer and directional tweeter provide dynamic audio quality

CHATSWORTH, CA.—February 9, 2010 –SANYO, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of LCD and DLP projectors, announces the introduction of two new ultra-short-throw projector mounts that integrate a quality high-output audio playback system into the mount itself. Targeted for the educational market, the MT-EDU 101 and MT-EDU 102 eliminate the need to use the projector’s internal speakers or a separate audio system by incorporating a 50-watt two-channel amplifier and two powerful 25-watt rated two-way speakers into the chassis of the wall mount. MSRP is $949 for the MT-EDU101 and MSRP is $999 for the extended-length MT-EDU102. Both models will become available in April 2010.

"Our new audio package is a great solution for educational and other environments where the tiny speakers typically found in projectors are inadequate and installation of separate audio systems is impractical or too expensive," states Sam Malik, Director of Marketing for the Presentation Technologies Group in SANYO North America’s Consumer Solutions Division. "Integrating the audio into the mount makes for a clean and simple installation that puts the speakers in the ideal room location. Years after installation, users will find the inputs and controls simple to use and the audio quality robust."

The high-efficiency ported speakers, which use 5" woofers and directional tweeters, are tuned to provide optimal sound coverage in large rooms, including a standard 32' x 32' classroom. Designed to avoid overwhelming listeners in the front rows with excessive sound levels, the system provides excellent intelligibility throughout the room without distortion and microphone feedback.

Multiple external audio sources, including wired and wireless microphones, are easily accommodated without complicated wiring arrangements. A line level microphone jack, two sets of stereo RCA inputs and a mini stereo jack are located on the side of the mount chassis, and each input has an individual gain preset control.

Two models are offered to provide flexibility in mounting distance from the wall. For short throws, the MT-EDU101 extends 7 to 27 inches from the wall, and for longer throw distances, the otherwise identical MT-EDU102 adds an extension pole to place the projector 37 to 67 inches from the wall. These can be mounted either to single or dual studs on 16”, 18”, or 24” spacing, and can also be mounted to concrete.

A universal projector mounting mechanism allows the mount to be used with any short-throw projector, including the SANYO PDG-DWL100, PDG-DXL100, PLC-WXL46, PLC-XL50A and PLC-XL51 projectors. It provides a pitch adjustment of ±16.5°, a 7.5° roll adjustment, and a 41° yaw trim. Total weight capacity for the mounts is 50 lbs.

An integral cable routing system allows concealed management of signal and power cables, which pass from the projector through the arm and into the wall mount. Security for mounting of additional A/V equipment such as PC, Mac or control modules is available by using additional security hardware that fastens to the wall mount.
