Optoma Enters the Document Camera Market

Press Release  |  Jun 14, 2011

Versatile DC300 Combines Best-in-Class Features with Affordable Price

FREMONT, Calif. | June 13, 2011 | Optoma®, a worldwide leader in digital projectors and projection technology, has introduced the DC300 document camera, the company’s first entry into this exploding market. Designed for use in classrooms and conference rooms, the DC300 offers best-in-class performance at a competitive price, featuring SXGA resolution with an autofocus lens and industry-leading optical zoom capabilities. The camera, which offers still or video recording, is mounted on a flexible gooseneck arm with rotating camera head to capture and display colorful, vivid images from various angles with ease. The DC300, which is available now at an introductory demo price of $249, will be on display here at InfoComm 2011 in B Hall, booth #2617.

“We’re tremendously excited by this introduction,” said Jon Grodem, Optoma’s senior director of product and marketing. “With Optoma’s expertise in display technology, the DC300 is the perfect companion to our projectors. It’s a natural fit.”

According to Grodem, the DC300’s feature set provides best-in-class status. The 9x optical and 12x digital zoom puts it at the top of its class, and it delivers direct viewing of what is on the shooting platform to almost any projector via the standard VGA port. It can store thousands if images onboard, and the camera’s USB port allows Optoma DC300 Document Camera 2 a connection to computers running Windows XP/Vista/Win7 and Mac OS 10.4 or above, for additional storage.

“Including the USB connectivity is a significant advantage for users,” said Grodem. “It provides almost unlimited storage capacity and provides immediate access to those files for use in other applications.”

The DC300 offers many other important features, including image mirror, image split, and image freeze. An embedded LED lamp allows the camera to capture depth of field and accurate colors, and records at SXGA (1280x1024) resolution. Microscope adapters and a 360 degree infrared remote are included as standard equipment, and the camera carries a 5-year warranty.
