Barco expands 3D-capable three-chip DLP projector range with a 12,000 lumens unit

Orlando, Florida, InfoComm 2011 exhibition – Barco, a world leader in projection for the events industry, is proud to announce a new member of its 3D-capable three-chip DLP projector range. The HDX-W12 shares the on-board image processing, easy servicing and preview mode features with its W14 cousin, but clocks in at 12,000 lumens. It is also the world's first projector to offers a 2,500 hour xenon lamp lifetime.

The HDX-W14 projector was launched at Integrated Systems Europe in February 2011. “As the first product of an entirely new projection range for the events industry, its forward-thinking design made it the smartest option for events visualization. Its image processing is based on Barco's renowned ImagePRO signal processor, which has been a reference in the events business for many years.” says Chris Colpaert, Director of Strategic Marketing Projection at Barco.

Barco's HDX range is 3D-capable and can be controlled through smartphones. It consists of only five building blocks, which makes an HDX projector exceedingly easy to service. The HDX can project from any position or angle, and its on-board image processing technology is reflected in a quick preview mode on a color LCD screen on the projector's side.

Both the HDX-W14 and the HDX-W12 have a WUXGA (1920x1200) resolution, which encompasses and exceeds industry-standard full HD. The HDX-W12 is unique among its peers in that if offers bright xenon lamp with a 2,500 hour lifetime, which gives it a significant edge over competitive products with mercury lamps.

“Brightness requirements can be quite specific,” says Mr. Colpaert, “For customers that don't need 14,000 lumens of light output, the HDX-W12's 12,000 lumens certainly won't let them down. The W12's robust build and standard form factor make it quick to ship and install for an event, whereas its long lamp lifetime makes it suitable for fixed installations.
