OPTOMA DEBUTS NEW PLAYTIME PROJECTOR

Fremont, Calif. | November 7, 2011 | Continuing its industry-leading efforts of creating innovative products to reach broader, untapped audiences, Optoma®, the best-selling brand of DLP projectors in the Americas, introduces the PT105, an all-new 75-lumen, plug-n-play projector designed to give consumers an easy-to-use, low-cost, portable projector. The PT105, the second projector in the company’s PlayTime line, offers simple operation with the power to deliver images up to 140” in size and is compatible with most video gaming consoles, Blu-ray/ DVD players, set top boxes, computers, or any devices supporting HDMI, VGA or composite video output. The PT105 is available now and has an end-user price of $229.

“The response to our PlayTime line has been very strong,” said Jon Grodem, Optoma’s senior director of product and marketing, “and we’re expecting that the PT105’s increased power and connectivity, coupled with its affordable price, will appeal to a lot of consumers.”

According to Grodem, the WVGA resolution (854x480 pixels) PT105 is designed to deliver a big image and low cost. Delivering a contrast ratio of 1000:1 from its 7.8” x 3.2” x 7.8” (WxHxD) dimensions, it utilizes an efficient, economical LED light source that has a lifespan of over 20,000 hours and projects images from 10” to 140” diagonally in a widescreen 16:9 format, which is popular for video games and movies. A built-in 1.5-watt speaker delivers ample sound for a self-contained entertainment system, while an audio-in input allows for connection to an external audio system.
