SANYO ANNOUNCES FAMILY OF NEXT-GENERATION ULTRA-MOBILE LCD PROJECTORS

Press Release  |  Apr 10, 2000

World's Largest Manufacturer Redefines Industry Standards for Full-Featured, On-The-Go Presenting

LAS VEGAS, NV, SANDS - Booth #M-7657 - April 10, 2000-Sanyo, a leader in LCD projector manufacturing, today announced a new family of ultra-mobile LCD projectors that set new standards for brightness, mobility, durability and ease-of-use. The models are the PLC-XU22N, PLC-SU22N and the PLC-XU07N.

Smallest in Class

The PLC-XU22N and PLC-SU22N pack a number of powerful features into a footprint of less than one square foot, making them the smallest LCD projectors in their class. The PLC-XU22N, which produces a very bright 1200 ANSI lumens, provides true XGA resolution (1024 x 768) that can project a detailed image up to 300 inches diagonally. The PLC-SU22N also produces 1200 ANSI lumens, while providing true SVGA resolution (800 x 600) with the same powerful range of up to 300 inches diagonally.

Improved Video Performance

One of the most important areas for the overall performance of LCD projectors is video capability. Sanyo has satisfied this critical need by incorporating improved video technology into the PLC-XU22N and PLC-SU22N. By using the company's unique adjustment circuitry and digital realized video scaling, the video images produced by these projectors are of the highest quality when viewed by users.

Feature-Rich

Both models boast a number of advanced features that are optimized for the mobile presenter in settings such as schools, training classes, product demonstrations and corporate presentations. These include:

• HDTV compatibility (PLC-XU22N only).
• Digital Keystone Correction, compensating for angled projector placement (XU22N/SU22N only).
• Built-in PC Card slot and PC Card adapter for (computerless) presentations (with included 8MB SmartMedia card).
• Power Zoom/Power Focus.
• Magnesium cabinet design, providing a high-level of durability for travel.
• One button Auto Imaging setup function that makes setup totally seamless.
• Image Pause function that allows user to remove image from screen while still retaining their place within the presentation.
• Included wireless remote with laser pointer that's a fully functional mouse.
• Recessed lens for added protection during storage, shipping and travel.
• Strong 150W UHP projection lamp.
• Designed for international capability, supporting six color systems (PAL, PAL-M, PAL-N, SECAM, NTSC, NTSC4.43).

PLC-XU07N

The PLC-XU07N offers many of the same features as the PLC-XU22N and PLC-SU22N in a unit that is also quite compact. Weighing only 9.4-pounds, this model provides true XGA resolution (1024 x 768), producing 800 ANSI lumens of brightness. At a lower cost than the PLC-XU22N, this is a value-priced unit for those users who do not require a PC Card slot within the projector.

DRIT Technology

The performance of all three projectors is significantly boosted by Sanyo's breakthrough DRIT technology, a proprietary advance that digitally and mathematically interpolates an image's pixels, then automatically reconstructs the image by either compressing or expanding it to a bright, clear image not normally found in today's LCD projectors.

Pricing & Availability

All three models are currently shipping through Sanyo's national network of professional audio visual dealers. The PLC-SU22N lists for $5,995.00; the PLC-XU22's MSRP is $7,995.00 and the PLC-XU07N lists for $5,995.00. Each comes with Sanyo's standard warranty of three years parts and labor, with 90 days warranty on the lamp. The warranty also includes access to Sanyo's renowned Quick Repair Program.
