Press Release  |  Jun 26, 2000

Data/Video Projection Leader Showcases Expanded Award-Winning 300 Series Projectors at PC Expo

PC Expo, New York, N.Y., June 26, 2000 - InFocus (NASDAQ:INFS), the worldwide leader in data/video projection, today introduced two models to its LP300 series, giving the market new projectors that meet the full range of presentation needs of today's presenters, and function in a multitude of environments. The LP340 and LP350 provide a robust feature set - excellent image quality, extreme brightness, digital connectivity, exclusive InFocus Home Theatre Quality video, HDTV compatibility and patented CableWizard technology - in sub-seven pound packages, making these two projectors ideal for the conference room, sharing among group members or taking on the road. The award-winning projector line now delivers more presentation solutions for both the performance-minded and the budget-conscious, with the benefit of extreme portability.

"The new InFocus offerings deliver projectors for every presentation situation - from the conference room to off-site meetings," said Amar Samra, InFocus director of product marketing. "The LP340 and LP350 provide everything users expect in a full-featured conference room projector, such as superb image quality, future-ready connectivity and other premium features, without compromising on portability or cost." Full-featured Projectors Packed into 6.7-pound Stylish Packages The InFocus LP350 is a 6.7-pound projector in a sleek form factor that incorporates Texas Instruments' DLP technology and exclusive InFocus Home Theatre Quality(tm) video. Included in this compact package are true 1024 x 768 XGA resolution, 2000-hour lamp half life, 1300 lumens and 400:1 contrast ratio. Ideal for demanding presentation requirements, the LP350's XGA resolution and feature set provides maximum visual impact for richly detailed images such as Microsoft PowerPoint(tm) and multimedia presentations, financial spreadsheets and drawings. Other notable features are whisper quiet operation, digital keystone correction, and a zoom lens, remote control and onboard control panel. Additionally, the projector's versatile design makes it easy to ceiling mount for permanent conference room use.

Also weighing 6.7 pounds with DLP technology and 1300 lumens, the LP340 offers SVGA resolution, plus the same full-featured, future-ready specifications as the LP350. The high brightness gives users the added benefit of having the option to present with the lights on, and the ease-of-use and affordable price make it the ideal solution for first-time data/video projection users, as well as the education and government markets. The LP340's $3,999 price point also enables organizations on a budget to arm every sales representative with leading-edge projection technology that is functional in any setting.

With the introduction of the LP340 and LP350, InFocus Corporation offers the broadest range of portable projectors in the market today. Fully Compatible with Tomorrow's Technology, Today The complete InFocus LP300 series delivers cutting-edge features, while protecting users from obsolescence by equipping them for technology's next advances with unbeatable connectivity and multimedia options. These projectors feature the revolutionary M1-DA connector that incorporates Digital Visual Interface (DVI) digital, analog and USB connectivity in one connector. The series also provides exclusive InFocus Home Theatre Quality video and HDTV compatibility. The patented InFocus CableWizard connector and cable make ceiling mounting easy and inexpensive.

Rapid Gains in the Portable Projector Market "Just as notebooks were quickly transformed from expensive, 20-pound 'luggables' into the sleek, powerful, relatively inexpensive devices we know them to be today, so too are today's vendors transforming data/video projectors," said Bob O'Donnell, research director with IDC. "Given all of these positive developments, it's no surprise that the market for projectors is reaching a point of rapid expansion."

IDC expects the market to expand from approximately 750,000 units sold in 1999 to just more than 2.5 million in 2004. In particular, the sub 10-pound portable market will see excellent growth, with units increasing at a 32.4 percent compound annual growth rate. Additionally, an increasing number of projectors are now being shared by workgroups or even kept by individual employees.

Pricing and Availability

The LP340 has an MSRP of $3,999 and the LP350 has an MSRP of $6,999. Both will be available in July, 2000.
