PHILIPS NEW LINE OF PROJECTORS MAKE AN IMPACT ON PRESENTATIONS

Press Release  |  Jun 15, 2000

Philips Creative Display Systems’ New Hopper Impact 20 Series Brightens Up Meeting Rooms

Anaheim, CA-INFOCOMM International, June 15, 2000 - Making an impact on meeting room presentations, Philips Creative Display launches the new Hopper SV20 Impact and the Hopper XG20 Impact. These "Ultra-Silent Lightweight" multimedia projectors are up to 40 percent brighter than their predecessors, using the new Philips 150W UHP™ lamp, and are feature rich for increased user-friendly operation.

These new projectors operate with less than 33 dBs of noise - just loud enough to convince you that the projector is switched on and working. At less than 11 lbs. the projectors are ideal to carry from one room to another or to take on the road.

Extending Philip's meeting room projector range, the Hopper XG20 Impact's pin-point sharp XGA resolution provides an impressive 1250 ANSI Lumens for brighter images without the need for lighting adjustments in normal daylight conditions.

The Philips Hopper SV20 Impact also boasts SVGA resolution at 1250 ANSI Lumens of light output.

Both products will feature hot plug-and-play USB connectivity and an integrated HUB function to connect additional PC peripherals. Instant Auto Image, Digital Keystone Correction Digital Zoom and Pan & Freeze are additional features that improve the projectors' ease-of-use. A true extension of Philips' line, the models have the same stylish, smart, rugged design of previous projectors.

Just what the customer needs

These new products are just one step in an ongoing process to create a full product portfolio addressing all market segments this year. According to Marjon De Groot, product marketing manager for Philips Creative Display Solutions, "We keep our finger firmly on the market's pulse and invest heavily in customer research to identify the end users' needs. With the new features we have incorporated into these models, we are meeting those needs and anticipating others."

Feature-Packed for Ease-of-Use

With the new scaler technology, more devices with the most advanced data or video signals can be connected. From Multi-scan VGA to SXGA, PC and Mac, to PAL, NTSC, SECAM and HDTV - it converts these without any loss of information. Each model boasts Instant Auto Image, which ensures that the projected image is automatically optimized for the best picture quality. Digital Keystone Correction compensates for any image distortion, especially when projecting at extreme angles, whereas Digital Zoom, Pan and Freeze functions allow images to be 'frozen' and segments zoomed in and examined in more detail when required.

Hot Plug and Play

Both models have Universal Serial Bus (USB) functionality for hot plug-and-play connectivity. This enables the projectors to be connected to a running PC or laptop. It also allows instant connection of a remote controlled mouse or other peripherals. Users can control the PC's mouse cursor via the projector's remote control without having to install complex software. Any audio signal from the PC can be played through the projector's stereo speaker system without the need for a sound card, audio cable or additional speakers. And each projector's integrated HUB function enables additional PC peripherals - like speakers, web cameras, video conferencing systems - to be easily connected.

Quietest Projectors in the Market

The Philips Air System ( PAS™) is a new breakthrough heat diffusion technology, which has been integrated into both the Hopper XG20 Impact and the SV20 Impact.

The benefit of PAS is that the operating noise at less than 33 dBs is four times more silent than the average projector. The PAS system also provides for optimal cooling to prevent the surrounding area from becoming hot as well as eliminating any discomfort for the audience sitting close to the airflow. This gives the Hopper XG20 Impact and SV20 Impact a distinct advantage in a market where noisy cooling fans are the norm.

Warranty, Pricing and Availability

The Philips name stands for quality and reliability. A warranty that's backed up with a support service which includes the First Choice 24/48-hour Swap ServiceTM, and a toll-free helpline.

The Hopper SV20 Impact at $4,499 and the Hopper XG20 Impact at $6,499 will be available in the spring of 2000. They both can be purchased through Philips Premium Partners and value-added resellers in the US and in over 120 countries around the globe.
