NEC Technologies Introduces Industry's First Sub-Five Pound LCD-Based Microportable Projector to Exceed 1000 ANSI Lumens

Press Release  |  Oct 16, 2000

New 'Go! Series' Projector Offers Exceptional Brightness, True Portability

ITASCA, Ill., Oct. 16 /PRNewswire/ via NewsEdge Corporation -- NEC Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: NIPNY) today announced the industry's only sub-five pound LCD-based projector with a brightness rating that exceeds 1000 ANSI lumens, the MultiSync(R) LT155. The latest addition to NEC's "Go! Series!" of microportable projectors, the LT155 is designed for busy professionals who require mobile presentation tools that deliver powerful impressions. The new projector offers users an extreme 1200 ANSI lumens of brightness, XGA native resolution, stunning data and video image display and true portability without the need for a laptop, all in a package lighter than most notebook computers.

By adding the MultiSync LT155 LCD projector to NEC's existing Go! Series, which is comprised of two 3.3-pound DLP projectors, the company is the first in the industry to offer both LCD- and DLP-based microportable projectors. "We are setting the benchmark for quality and choice in the lightweight category," said Bob Guentner, product marketing manager for the Visual Systems Division of NEC Technologies. "NEC Technologies is committed to providing customers with a microportable product line that offers ease-of-use, broad compatibility and the most advanced data and video image display currently available. Whether a consultant, sales representative or corporate trainer, the MultiSync LT155 projector makes it easy to deliver powerful, memorable presentations while on the road. Its compact size and high-tech design will enable users to make a statement even before their presentation begins."

The MultiSync LT155 Projector On the "Go!"

A first in the microportable category, the new projector incorporates an Eco-Mode control system that allows users to double the projector lamp life, thereby decreasing associated user replacement costs and improving total cost of ownership. Accessed through the projector's menu system, Eco-Mode increases the projector's longevity by reducing full brightness by about 20 percent when it's not needed. Eco-Mode also decreases fan noise from a typical 39 decibels to an energy-conserving 36 decibels.

The MultiSync LT155 projector incorporates VORTEX Technology(TM), the first complete display enhancement system designed to change the way the world views projected images. By providing data and graphic displays with superior uniformity, color and contrast, and video displays with greater depth, detail, brighter whites and more realistic colors, VORTEX technology translates to the exchange of information that is more eye-catching and memorable.

As with its Go! Series predecessors, the new projector includes a built-in Presentation Viewer, which enables users to download presentations to a CompactFlash(TM), insert the card directly in the projector and display the presentation, effectively eliminating the need to carry a laptop. By removing the computer from the presentation equation, users are spared the hassle of managing cables and traditional computer boot-up time while setting up for a presentation, thus allowing more time for information exchange.

For presenters who still choose to work off a laptop, NEC Technologies has included exclusive features that allow for easily obtainable crisp, clean images no matter what type of computer or source is used. AutoSense(TM) Technology automatically synchronizes the LT155 with the source computer -- to display a great image, all the user needs to do is focus. Likewise, Advanced AccuBlend(TM) Intelligent Pixel Blending Technology enables the display of accurate and detailed images from non-native resolution computers (VGA-UXGA).

In addition, the MultiSync LT155 microportable projector comes with a full-function presentation remote, a soft case that can accommodate a projector and laptop, and a USB input giving users the option of connecting a USB mouse to operate the menu system and make on-screen Chalkboard(TM) annotations during a presentation.

Complete Service and Support Program

The MultiSync LT155 is backed by NEC Technologies' complete InstaCare(R), InstaCare Xpress(SM) and TravelCare(SM) service programs that exceed the level of support today's professionals have come to expect from their presentation solution providers. Two years of InstaCare coverage comes standard with the projector for repair and return service within three business days or full replacement service the next business day. For true emergencies, InstaCare Xpress provides customers with a "next available flight" replacement option (fees and airline restrictions may apply). And, TravelCare offers any MultiSync LT155 projector customer repair and return service or the use of a temporary loaner projector (at a nominal fee) while travelling outside of the United States and Canada.

Availability

The MultiSync LT155 projector will begin shipping in the fall of 2000 and will be available through the NEC Technologies nationwide network of professional PC and AV channel partners. The Estimated Street Price (ESP) of the MultiSync LT155 is $4,995.00.
