EPSON INTRODUCES ITS NEWEST AND BRIGHTEST PORTABLE SERIES PROJECTOR AT COMDEX 2000

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 13, 2000 - Epson America Inc., a world leader in high-performance projectors, today unveiled its newest and brightest portable projector to date. The EPSON PowerLite 7700p is built on the company's winning tradition of exceptional brightness, flexibility, ease-of-use and image quality, boasting more than 3000 ANSI lumens, while fitting within the confines of a small form factor that weighs only 15.2 pounds.

Using three 1.3-inch high aperture LCDs with Micro Lens Arrays, the projector produces ultra-bright images in true XGA native resolution (1024 x 768) with razor-sharp detail and evenly distributed colors across the entire screen. The PowerLite 7700p's new design is also unobtrusive with whisper-quiet performance (around 38db) and minimal light leakage.

State-of-the-art video performance is further enhanced by a 3D Y/C digital comb filter with digital noise reduction for enhanced clarity, reduced noise and improved contrast. An internal motion smoothing processor can also detect and remove undesired artifacts through advanced image interpolation. The PowerLite 7700p also features a 400:1 contrast ratio for vibrant images with blacker blacks and whiter whites.

EPSON SizeWise(r) resizing technology supports virtually any computer (Mac or PC) up to UXGA (1600 x 1200) resolution with virtually no picture loss. The EPSON PowerLite 7700p also can display component video and is HDTV-ready, supporting popular digital video signal formats such as 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p. A new Digital Video Interface (DVI) increases the projectors' flexibility by offering compatibility and connectivity to the new digital computer video formats.

Installation and setup of the projector is easier than ever. Thirty-degree digital keystone correction gives projector users the ability to easily adjust the shape of the screen to compensate for the angle in which the projector is positioned for a perfectly balanced picture. Users can also use long-throw or wide-angle attachment lenses using a simple bayonet-style twist-and-pull lens mount for quick and easy changes - making the PowerLite 7700p particularly attractive for the projector rental business. A full-featured remote control is included with USB mouse capability and a hard-wired remote control adapter is available as an optional accessory. Users can create up to five custom setting presets for frequently used setup preferences and conditions.

Price, Availability and Support

The PowerLite 7700p will be widely available later this year for $11,999 (MSRP) and comes with a two-year limited warranty. Epson also provides PowerLite customers with three elite technical support services - Epson's Private Line, Road Service Program and International Warranty. Through the Private Line, projector owners can directly access an exclusive expedited support telephone line (typically in less than one minute) by using a phone card that is included with the product. In the event that a projector should need to be repaired, Epson's Road Service Program can replace the product usually within 24 hours in the United States and Canada. International Warranty makes repair service available in 45 countries worldwide. All of these services are available for the duration of the warranty coverage.
