Press Release  |  Apr 16, 2001

CP-X980W and CP-X985W Debut at NAB 2001, Providing Superior Video Quality and Advanced HDTV Features

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 16, 2001-- Hitachi America, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., Tokyo, Japan (NYSE:HIT), today announced the industry's first LCD projectors featuring progressive scan technology. Hitachi's CP-X980W and CP-X985W LCD multimedia projectors are HDTV-ready and provide significant improvements in video quality, enhancing Hitachi's offering for the mobile market, and further expanding Hitachi's line of innovative presentation solutions. Featuring true XGA resolution, Hitachi's newest projectors offer sharp images and bright, vivid displays to meet mobile professionals' projection needs. These models are two of three new projectors being announced in conjunction with NAB 2001, and will be displayed at Booth No. M9963 at the Sands Convention Center, April 21-26.

"As the audio/visual industry becomes more sophisticated, and more accessible to the average consumer, customers have become increasingly demanding of their projection equipment - requiring not only portability and ease of use, but also professional-level image quality," said Pete Denes, national sales manager of Hitachi America, Ltd., Computer Division, Multimedia Presentation Products. "These new projectors address this need by providing the best video quality available and top-of-the-line resolution and brightness - all with Hitachi's strong feature set and tradition of quality manufacturing."

With impressive brightness of 2,300 and 2,700 lumens respectively, the CP-X980W and CP-X985W provide sharp, vivid images for maximum visual impact. In addition to the ultra-bright displays and enhanced video capabilities, the CP-X980W and CP-X985W also boast extensive feature sets which include three RGB inputs, three video inputs, digital zoom, picture-in-picture capabilities and digital keystone correction. With a height of 12 centimeters and weighing only 14 pounds, Hitachi's new projectors are well-suited for installation or portable use, and can be easily adapted for a variety of room sizes with the interchangeable long- and short-throw lenses.

The CP-X980W and CP-X985W projectors, priced at $10,995 and $12,995 respectively, are now available through Hitachi's network of nationwide resellers. For more information, or to locate a dealer near you, please visit http://www.hitachi.com/lcd, or call 1-800-HITACHI.
