New InFocus LP530 Digital Projector Sets New Standard for Performance and Versatility
Combination of High Brightness, Sleek Design and Outstanding Video Quality Put the LP530 in a Class by Itself
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 12, 2001--INFOCOMM-- InFocus(R) Corporation (Nasdaq:INFS) (OSE:IFC), the worldwide leader in digital projection, today unveiled the LP530, an extremely bright and versatile projector, ideal for multiple applications in conference rooms or on the road. Weighing only 5.7 pounds (2.6 kg), the LP530 delivers 2000 lumens -- more lumens per pound than any other projector on the market -- and is the first ever 2000-lumen projector in the sub-six-pound weight class. The unprecedented size/weight/brightness/video-quality combination along with the LP530's groundbreaking design, further distinguishes InFocus and its commitment to projection industry leadership.
"Reaching 2000 lumens in a 5.7-pound projector is a significant achievement for InFocus, and a first for single-chip projectors based on DLP(TM) technology," said Dennis Fritsche, manager of business products for the DLP(TM) Products Division of Texas Instruments. "We believe that this lumens/size barrier-breaking product will be a major success, taking InFocus and DLP(TM) into new markets."
According to a May 2001 survey conducted by IDC, higher brightness and resolution are two key factors that are important to IS/IT managers when purchasing a projector. The LP530, powered by Digital Light Processing(TM) technology from Texas Instruments, meets those needs with 2000 lumens of brightness and XGA (1024 x 768) resolution. It also ships standard with computer, video and audio inputs for multimedia presentations generated from multiple sources.
An advanced connectivity module, which easily attaches to the back of the base LP530 unit, provides additional conference room connectivity options and multimedia functionality. Due to its extreme functionality and versatility with or without the module, the LP530 can be a shared resource in an organization or a lightweight personal unit.
"The LP530 is a category-leading product from InFocus not only because it's the smallest 2000 lumen projector ever, but also because it satisfies the needs of customers looking for a powerful, feature-packed product that's portable yet versatile enough to fit comfortably in a conference room," said Benjamin Joy, InFocus business line manager, Conference Room Solutions. "And at an estimated street price under $5,000, the LP530 also has a price-performance ratio that is one of the best in the industry."
In addition to the LP530's extreme brightness, outstanding image quality, portability and versatility, it also has a number of unique benefits:
-- Variable Brightness Settings -- Users can choose between 2000 or 1600 lumen settings to adjust to different ambient light conditions
-- Exceptional Video Quality -- The LP530 offers the highest-quality technology from Faroudja for superb video. Faroudja (a division of Sage Inc.) technology enables smooth and natural images and provides the industry's clearest, high-resolution picture
-- Multimedia Functionality -- The LP530 can be used to create both traditional business presentations and for a wide array of other applications, with input sources such as DVD players, HDTV, camcorders and gaming consoles
-- Investment Protection -- With the unique upgrade ability of the LP530, users can purchase additional connectivity modules as new features become available, taking advantage of technology advances at a fraction of the price of a new projector
-- Sleek InFocus Design -- InFocus demonstrates its award-winning design ability again with the LP530's smooth, rounded form factor
Warranties and Availability The LP530 is available at an estimated street price of US $4,999. This projector comes with a two-year standard product warranty and one year of ProXchange service. The LP530 will be available in July 2001.
