JVC INTRODUCES LIGHT AND AFFORDABLE D-ILA™ PROJECTOR WITH TRUE S-XGA RESOLUTIONExpands D-ILA Line-up With Lower Cost, Portable Projector
Las Vegas, NV (INFOCOMM, June 13 - 15, 2001) -- JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY is pleased to introduce the new DLA-DS1 graphic projector -- for the first time providing true S-XGA resolution to the portable business presentation and graphics markets.
Lighter and More Powerful
With the new DLA-DS1, JVC has successfully packed stunning, true S-XGA performance into a small, lightweight body. Thanks to a newly designed, innovative optical engine which uses only 1 PBS (Polarized Beam Splitter), the DLA-DS1 weighs only 14.3 pounds in a sleek, portable package. Using JVC's advanced D-ILA technology, the projector delivers resolution as high as 1,365 x 1,024 pixels, and thus can display all the details of an S-XGA (1,280 x 1,024 pixels) image without scaling or loss of quality. With scaling, the DLA-DS1 can accept images up to 1600 x 1200 (UXGA) resolution.
Despite its small size, the DLA-DS1 generates 1,300 ANSI lumens, thus making it a powerful presentation tool in classrooms, network operation centers and conference rooms. The smooth, high resolution images that the DLA-DS1 generates match the resolution achieved by today's PC's.
With its ability to generate smooth, sharp, high-contrast images, it is also ideally paired with JVC's AVP-1000 high resolution SXGA document camera for display requirements in courtrooms, laboratories and training centers.
JVC's DLA-DS1 stands out in a very large and crowded portable projector market, offering the advantages of our reflective liquid crystal technology and S-XGA performance in our most economical and lightweight package ever," said Jack Faiman, Vice President of JVC's Digital Systems Division. "As technologies in general have advanced, more and more people have become aware of the value of higher resolution graphics, but they are searching for simple and easy solutions. We believe that the superb performance of this unique D-ILA projector will appeal to buyers who want a projector that matches the resolution of today's laptop computers. Other portable projectors just don't do that."
The DLA-DS1 projector uses three D-ILA panels that pack 1.4 million pixels on to a tiny 0.9" (diagonal) chip to make the system fully compatible with S-XGA resolution. The technology virtually eliminates pixel gaps, and as a result, it achieves the smoothest images of any matrix-display device without annoying grid or screen door effects that are characteristic of LCD or DLP projectors.
JVC has also paid a great deal of attention to environmental details that can be so important when making a presentation. With projector noise dramatically reduced, the DLA-DS1 is whisper-quiet. A cooling exhaust vent located on the front panel prevents exhaust air from being output to the audience, and simultaneously helps reduce noise generation. Both lamp and filter can be replaced from the front so maintenance is quick and easy. In addition to a logical easy to use layout, the DLA-DS1 offers a suite of easy-to-use features, including digital keystone correction (±20 degrees), programmable 16x digital zoom, freeze function, selectable color mode (film, TV, PC) and Quick Alignment.
Powerful and fully compatible with a wide range multimedia signal sources, yet very small, light and stylish, JVC's DLA-DS1 provides an affordable solution for users who want to have a future-ready projection system in place to meet the growing demand for S-XGA resolution.
