InFocus Announces Feature-Packed SVGA Projector at Breakthrough PriceThe InFocus LP280 Offers Hi-End Features for less than $2,200
WILSONVILLE, Ore., July 17, 2001 - InFocus(r) Corporation (Nasdaq:INFS), (OSE: IFC), the worldwide leader in digital projection, today introduced the InFocus LP280: a full-featured entry-level projector priced below $2,200. The LP280 is the hi-tech, low-cost projection solution that offers multimedia features to a broad range of budget-conscious users. Based on the same LCD technology platform as the recently announced LP290, the LP280 has native SVGA resolution, delivers 1000 lumens of brightness, and is well suited for "charts and graphs," business presentations and classroom use. With an estimated street price of $2,199, the LP280 offers an outstanding feature set and one of the best lumens-per-dollar ratios available today.
In a December 2000 report on PC displays and projectors, IDC confirmed that price has been a stumbling block for some potential projector customers such as those in education, government and small businesses. The InFocus LP280 is as affordable as a laptop PC, easy to set up and use, and delivers immediate productivity benefits to business and education users alike.
In addition to its attractive price, a number of the LP280's features have been incorporated with education and first-time users in mind. For example, the LP280 comes with monitor loop-through, which allows the projected image to be viewed on a PC monitor and the projection screen simultaneously, allowing the presenter to view the image without having to turn his or her back to the classroom. Likewise, the soft power feature allows users to ceiling-mount the LP280 and turn it on and off via remote control.
For the small-office/home-office market, the LP280's short throw lens and quiet (34dB) operation are ideal to project large images in small rooms. Video capability allows users to take advantage of both data and video sources simultaneously for dynamic presentations. Weighing just 5.7 pounds, the LP280 can also be carried easily from room to room for businesses and schools that use it as a shared resource.
"With the LP280 we are able to provide the education, government and first-time user markets with an ideal projection solution," said Pierre Richer, director of product marketing, InFocus Corporation. "We've incorporated features tailored for the unique operating environments of these markets - classrooms and small offices - without sacrificing the affordable price."
Warranties and Availability
The LP280 is available now at an estimated street price of US $2,199. It comes with a two-year standard product warranty, 7x24 Technical Support and one year of ProXchange(tm) (available in N. America only), offering the assurance that if an issue cannot be solved quickly over the phone, a replacement projector will be sent by the next business day.
