INFOCUS INTRODUCES WORLD'S FIRST NETWORK-READY, LARGE MEETING ROOM PROJECTOR WITH SUPPORT FOR HDCP STANDARD
DP8000 Features Future-Ready Networking Capability, Promising Enhanced Efficiency and Lower Total Cost of Ownership
WILSONVILLE, Ore., October 3, 2001 - InFocus(r) Corporation (Nasdaq:INFS), (OSE: IFC), the worldwide leader in digital projection, today announces the Proxima(r) DP8000, an extremely powerful LCD projector suitable for advanced projection applications. The DP8000 facilitates Web and video conferencing and e-learning, and is ideal for large meeting rooms, training rooms and classrooms. The DP8000 offers built-in networking capabilities which support the emergence of projectors as managed assets on the corporate network. This, in turn, helps IT departments reduce total cost of projector ownership. Unique networking capability together with multiple connectivity options and an easy-to-install form factor make the DP8000 the perfect solution for system integrators installing multiple projectors throughout an organization.
In addition, the DP8000 is the world's first projector to offer support for the HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) standard, which protects digital content over the DVI (Digital Visual Interface) connection and allows straight digital-to-digital signals. With HDCP, studios now have the means to protect high definition content from unauthorized use or reproduction. InFocus is the first projector manufacturer to support the HDCP standard.
The DP8000 produces incredibly bright and clear images, with native XGA resolution and 3000 lumens of brightness, and vivid saturated colors with a contrast ratio of 800:1. At only 13.2 pounds, the DP8000 is about half the size of other projectors producing 3000 lumens, meaning an easier-to-install solution for system integrators. In addition to Web and video teleconferencing, the DP8000 can be used to view DVD, HDTV, digital photos and other digital content geared toward e-learning and distance learning environments. Inputs including BNC x 5, RGB, component video, S-video and composite video, and RS-232 control, allow for numerous sources to be connected simultaneously, making the DP8000 ideal for large meeting room integration. Operating noise is minimized at less than 34dB, perfect for environments that demand quiet operation.
This network-ready projector, when paired with future networking software from InFocus Corporation, works through network-management standards such as Microsoft Management Console to enable configuration, administration and control of the projector-or a fleet of projectors-from a remote console.
"The breakthrough DP8000 is more than powerful enough to project in large meeting rooms and is ideal for the integrator looking for an easy-to-install solution that's compatible with room sources," says Pierre Richer, senior director, worldwide product marketing, InFocus Corporation. "It also satisfies the needs of IT departments who are examining the need to manage projectors like other IT assets." "The DP8000 represents
