Benq Debuts Lightweight DLP Portable Projectors

City of Industry, CA (January 22, 2002) - Benq Incorporated (formerly Acer Communications and Multimedia) continues its tradition of display excellence with the announcement of two micro portable DLP projectors.

Weighing only three pounds, the SL705S and SL705X Benq projectors are designed to meet the demanding standards of business travelers and busy executives. Therefore they are the perfect choice for training seminars, home theater, sales presentations and other applications where mobility is important. In fact, these projectors will nicely fit into a compact case along with a notebook computer.

Benq is also introducing the multiple function Presentation Wizard laser pointer remote control which will be available with both SL705S and CL705X projectors. The presentation is dramatically enhanced and more efficient when in the laser mode. In addition the Wizard offers page up/page down scrolling which simplifies and adds value to Microsoft® PowerPoint presentations. Another interesting feature is the blank mode to assist in adapting to changes between presentations.

What differentiates these projectors from others in the market is their light weight, slim size and brightness, and also the super wide angle lens and short throw distance. This includes providing a 60" picture at a projection distance of only 6.5 feet. Most competitive models are 40" x 6.5 feet, providing a definitely advantage to the presenter in a mid-size to small meeting room.

Other features of these two projectors include a newly designed built in HDTV chip set with a VGA2YPbPr adapter, which allows the user to connect the unit to VGA from either a DTV decoder or a DVD player. And both DLP projectors provide various connection options, including composite video, S-video, data and audio. Since the projector can display HDTV and wide screen DVD, with the appropriate aspect ratio, the projector is ideal for 16:9 applications.

For additional flexibility for the presenter, these projectors boast a lightweight, business card size remote control complete with multiple function buttons including freeze, zoom and mute. This allows the presenter to walk around the room in full charge of the presentation.

The SL705S supports a true SVGA resolution of 800 X 600, compatible up to 1,280 x 1,024 with digital compression dithering technology. The 120 watt DC metal halide lamp delivers 1,000 Ansi lumens and a 400:1 contrast ratio that produces brilliant images, even in well lit rooms. Plus the units are HDTV compatible. This projector carries an MSRP of $2.895.

SL705X projector includes all of above features with an XGA resolution of 1,024 x 768 and is compatible with digital compressing dithering technology up to 1,280 x 1,024. It also produces 1,000 Ansi lumens. The MSRP is $4,495.
