NEC GIVES USERS REAL-TIME WIRELESS DATA TRANSMISSION WITH NEW MOBILE PROJECTORS

Press Release  |  Jun 10, 2002

New Projectors Offer Wired/Wireless LAN Connectivity, 3D ReformT Horizontal, Vertical and Diagonal Keystone Correction, and a Sealed Optical Unit for the Ultimate in Flexibility

Itasca, Ill., June 10, 2002-NEC Solutions (America), Inc. today introduced its most versatile mobile/desktop projectors to date. NEC's new LT Series microportable models incorporate a variety of new technologies to give professionals enhanced presentation and collaborative communication abilities, including the pioneering NEC ImageXpressT networking technology option.

The new LT220, LT240 and LT260 are the first projectors to offer NEC ImageXpressT, giving professionals the ability to communicate continuously and in real time from a PC to the projector through a wired LAN system using a 10 base or a wireless system via Wi-Fi 802.11b. And the wireless option lets users place their laptop anywhere in the room and switch between presentations on multiple laptops with the touch of a button for added versatility. In addition to NEC ImageXpress, the new LT projectors' networking solutions allow users to perform online diagnostics by accessing the menu system for complete control of the projector from a remote location.

"The new LT Series projectors with NEC ImageXpress open the gateway to true collaborative meetings and information sharing-and let professionals focus on the message they want to convey instead of fumbling with cables," said Bob Guentner, microportable and ultraportable projector product manager for NEC Solutions America, Visual Systems Division. "The new mobile projectors also give users superior image quality and the highest performance in their class along with NEC's industry-leading service and support."

The projectors are the first to feature NEC's exclusive 3D Reform technology, which gives users horizontal, vertical and diagonal keystone correction for perfectly square images even when projecting from unusual angles, giving users more flexibility in projector placement. The LT220, LT240 and LT260 also feature a unique design with a sealed optical unit, enabling long-term projection in smoky, dusty or chalky environments without the extra maintenance and cleaning costs normally associated with projecting in those environments.

All three DLP-based projectors weigh only 6.5 lbs. The LT260 provides a bright 2100 ANSI lumens along with XGA resolution. The XGA, 1500 ANSI lumen LT240 comes equipped with a short-throw lens for cart applications or smaller classrooms or conference rooms where the projector will be used close to the screen. The LT220 offers value-conscious users a feature-rich 2000 ANSI lumen projector with SVGA resolution.

The new projectors feature superior image quality thanks to their 1300:1 contrast ratio and to NEC's exclusive VORTEX Technology Plus color management system. This technology provides the most comprehensive color management system on the market available today, including an sRGB setting, individual color adjustment and white balance correction.

The LT220, LT240 and LT260 also feature Advanced AccuBlend technology for excellent display of non-native resolutions up to UXGA, AutoSense Technology for automatic setup and one-touch adjustments and a built-in presentation viewer that lets users download presentations onto a CompactFlash and leave the laptop at home. They also incorporate Eco-Mode technology to conserve lamp life in environments where the full projector brightness isn't needed and a stand-by mode that reduces projector power usage to under 1W when not in active use.

Complete Service and Support Program

The LT220, LT240 and LT260 are backed by three years of NEC's industry-leading warranty program. InstaCare provides projector repair and return within three business days or replacement the next business day.

InstaCare Xpress is available should a replacement projector be needed on the next flight out (fees and airline restrictions may apply) and TravelCare provides either repair and return or a temporary loaner projector (at a nominal fee) outside a user's home country. According to Pacific Media Associates' 2001 Large Display Reseller Survey, NEC ranked highest among all display manufacturers for its warranty and repair/return programs, as well as for its end-user support and knowledgeable, responsive support persons.
