InFocus Bolsters Proxima Line With Three New Projectors

Press Release  |  Sep 25, 2002

New Models Provide Expanded Choices for Business and Education

WILSONVILLE, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 25, 2002--InFocus(R) Corporation (Nasdaq:INFS) (OSE:IFC), the worldwide leader in digital projection, announces three new Proxima(R) projectors each targeted at a different end-user market: education, small and medium businesses, and meeting room users. The Proxima DP2000s, DP2000x and DP6500x all have new features that improve usability and enable educators and business people to present and collaborate more effectively.

"With these three new Proxima products, InFocus resellers now have expanded product options designed for specific customer requirements," said Pierre Richer, vice president of marketing at InFocus. "Each projector is built to handle a variety of applications, yet allows each user--from small business owner to educator--to focus on their specific professional needs."

The Proxima DP2000s is an LCD projector with SVGA resolution that especially meets the needs of educators, balancing affordability and robust features ideal for classrooms. At 1000 lumens and weighing only 5.8 pounds, the DP2000s is bright enough to present in generously-lit rooms, and lightweight enough to make for easy carrying between classrooms. The DP2000s also features monitor loop-through so that the desktop monitor stays on, even when the projector is off.

The DP2000x with XGA resolution and 1100 lumens of brightness is ideal for small and medium businesses. Digital keystone correction, manual zoom lens and quiet performance allow for flexible use in a variety of meeting room environments. Like the DP2000s, the DP2000x weighs only 5.8 pounds for easy portability.

Rounding out the new Proxima projector line is the DP6500x, a rugged meeting room projector incorporating DLP(TM) technology that is easy to use and share. With 2500 lumens of brightness, zoom lens and the ability to connect to up to five sources simultaneously, the DP6500x is also one of the industry's most versatile projectors. Featuring a built-in handle and weighing less than 10 pounds, the DP6500x is also easy to transport between conference rooms.

All three additions to the Proxima line feature design elements that facilitate everyday projector use. Usability enhancements include color-coded cables, connectors, and an easy-to-use menu interface.

Warranties and Availability
The Proxima DP2000s, DP2000x and the DP6500x will be available at estimated street prices of US $1,799, $2,899 and $4,799, respectively. The DP2000s/x will be available in mid-October and the DP6500x will be available in September. All three projectors come with a two-year standard product warranty and one year of ProXchange service.
