PRESIDENT OF LOCAL PRESENTATION EQUIPMENT DEALER FORMS PERIPHERALS MANUFACTURING COMPANY, LAUNCHES AFTERMARKET WIRELESS REMOTE

Press Release  |  Oct 8, 2002

Lake Oswego, Ore. – Doug O'Brien, president of presentation equipment provider Projectus Inc., today announced the formation of Zen Remotes, a new electronics peripherals manufacturing company whose first product, the Zen Remote, is shipping to Pro AV, electronics dealers and direct at www.zenremote.com.

"In order to cut costs, many Projector manufacturers are no longer including wireless mouse remotes in their projector packages," O'Brien said. "We saw an immediate need for a high-quality, low-cost remote to bundle as an add-on, and that's how Zen Remotes was born."

O'Brien stated the wired IR remotes included with current projectors are non-reliable, clunky and hard to use. The Zen Remote is small and extremely simple. The unit operates on radio frequency with a range up to 50 feet, is inexpensive and offers functionality comparable to far more expensive remotes.

"Our primary target market is made up of dynamic, fast-moving presenters who use software like PowerPoint. It's obviously perfect for them, but the Zen Remote also works beautifully for gamers and Net surfers who don't want to be constricted by the wired options currently available."

The Zen remote offers full-function wireless mouse with a 50-foot range, USB functionality and a built-in laser pointer. The remote mouse unit's dimensions are 5" x 1-1/2" x 1/2", the receiver 1-1/2" x 1/2" x 1/4".

"The retail price point is $129," O'Brien said. "This still provides a substantial margin while keeping the cost low enough so that dealers can give it away as a premium to preferred customers."

Founded in 1996, Projectus Inc. is a design and install firm that specializes in projectors, displays, home theater systems and accessories.
