SHARP DELIVERS BRIGHT NEW TWINS INTO THE NOTEVISION PROJECTOR FAMILY

Press Release  |  Oct 28, 2002

The slim, cost-effective Notevision C45X and Notevision C45S deliver bright, crisp presentations in basic installation settings such as classrooms, conference rooms and collaborative work environments

MAHWAH, N.J., October 29, 2002 - Sharp Electronics Corp. today unveiled a pair of handsome, high-resolution additions to its Notevision family of projectors with the 11.3 lb. Notevision C45X and Notevision C45S (PG-C45X & PG-C45S), both 2,400 ANSI Lumens bright and designed for flexibility and ease of use in basic installation settings. With a slim attaché-case design, high-tech security features and Sharp's newest and most efficient optical system, the Notevision C45 projectors are ideal for classrooms and corporate settings such as conference rooms and collaborative work environments.

The Notevision C45X, with native XGA resolution, will be available later this year through all authorized Sharp AV dealers and resellers at a list price of $5,195. The Notevision C45S, with native SVGA resolution, will also be available later this year at a list price of $4,395. These projectors are backed by a three-year parts and labor limited warranty, including two years of Sharp's express repair service, a 24-hour turnaround express repair program. The Notevision C45 models are the latest additions to Sharp's award-winning family of Notevision projectors, and demonstrate the ease of use, power and compatibility that have propelled Sharp products to a position of world leadership in the AV marketplace.

The Notevision C45 models reflect Sharp's global technology leadership, and boast several Sharp-developed technology features that specifically address customer needs in the education and corporate arenas. These advancements include Sharp's revolutionary "L" type optical system, which delivers higher brightness and improved imaging efficiency at lower cost to the end user. Both Notevision C45s offer an individual cooling system for each LCD panel, which lengthens the panel's lifespan. Both units also offer a host of security features designed to deter theft, including password-protected startup, one-touch custom start-up image, a through optical block ceiling mount stud and an optional ceiling mount cable lock system. The C45 also offers simple changeover to an optional Short Throw lens, as well as a cost-effective "Low Power Mode" (LPM) that allows users to reduce the brightness and fan noise, thus increasing lamp life and lowering the overall cost of ownership.

The Notevision C45X and C45S use a slender attaché-case frame measuring 15.4-inches W x 3.9-inches H x 11.6-inches D. The models are simple to operate, with an easy three-step set-up and shut-down process, and operate at a quiet 36 dB (33 db in LPM). The C45s offer separate S-video and composite inputs and two separate RGB inputs, including loop out capability - ideal for users who wish to face their audience while presenting. The models boast such features as Sharp's exclusive CV-IC System II, a Sharp-developed image-processing chip. The CV-IC System II chip cleans up jagged edges, minimizes image noise and implements keystone corrections, resulting in impressively crisp, clear images. A built-in Sharp color management system allows for individual adjustments for red, green, blue, cyan, yellow or magenta, thus sharpening the Notevision C45's color output, contrast and gradation.

"We feel the Notevision C45 is perfect for education or corporate customers, because it meets nearly every need - it is bright, secure, functional and aesthetically pleasing," said Dan Schinasi, senior product manager, Sharp LCD Products Group. "No other competitive model delivers equivalent value, in terms of reliability and cost-effectiveness. We are proud to say that this model sets a new industry standard for compact projectors."

Remote Access and Control Software for Projector Management
Sharp's Advanced Presentation Software (S.A.P.S.), supplied with the C45, allows one or more projectors to be connected to a PC for remote diagnostics and control capability. S.A.P.S. is designed to locate and self-diagnose system errors, instantly sending an alert to the control PC or forwarding error message emails to a predetermined list, expediting necessary maintenance and minimizing C45 downtime. The software can also be easily configured to immediately alert on-site maintenance engineers or off-site consultants, allowing them to service the C45 before their customers become aware of service issues. Additionally, S.A.P.S. can remotely shut off one or more projectors at a pre-set time to conserve lamp life after normal work hours.

The PresenterPAK Feature Set
Sharp's exclusive PresenterPAK features a friendly graphical user interface (GUI) menu screen that is icon-based and uses common terminology rather than technical jargon. PresenterPAK has a unique set of built-in features such as a customizable start-up screen and a break timer for meeting control.

The Notevision C45's automatic and manual image-adjustment features let presenters fine-tune images to ensure the sharpest presentations. Sharp's autoSYNC feature automatically adjusts computer images without having to access the projector's menu system, and Advanced ImageACE Resizing automatically adjusts different source resolutions to match the projector's native resolution, enabling the projector to handle images up to UXGA resolutions and various Macintosh and electronic workstation data signals as well. NTSC, PAL, SECAM and HDTV video signals are also handled through the projector's video inputs. The C45 features digital keystone correction with edge smoothing to remove an effect that may cause projected images to appear trapezoidal, but unlike optical correction, this technique squares the edges of an image while maintaining brightness and image quality.

Sharp offers a full line of projectors, monitors and professional video equipment for purchase, lease or rental through its national network of authorized dealers.
