Sharp Launches "Value Series" By Introducing The Notevision PG-A10X Projector

MAHWAH, N.J., March 04, 2003 - Sharp Electronics Corporation today unveiled the Notevision PG-A10X, a bright, lightweight data projector and the flagship model in Sharp's new "Value Series." Sharp's Value Series projectors are designed with an emphasis on affordability, reliability and ease of use for both basic installation and portability in the corporate, education and government sectors. The PG-A10X offers 1300 ANSI Lumens brightness and native XGA resolution.

The PG-A10X is the first entry in Sharp's Value Series. The next model in this series will be the SVGA-resolution PG-A10S (1500 ANSI Lumens), set for official introduction in Spring 2003, with additional Value Series projectors slated for introduction throughout 2003.

In addition to classroom and government settings, the PG-A10X and PG-A10S are ideal for first-time buyers, sales/marketing professionals, small business owners and corporate trainers - any end user or setting where low cost of ownership and reliability are paramount concerns.

The models are designed for "connect and project" simplicity and offer a cost-effective Low Power Mode that lets users extend lamp life from 3000 hours to 4500 hours, while lowering fan noise from 35dB to 31dB, which is relatively whisper-quiet for a projector this powerful. 4500 hours of lamp life allows users to save the money they would normally spend on new lamp purchases, reflecting Sharp's commitment to low overall cost of ownership. The models also offer multiple theft-deterrent capabilities, including keypad startup code, keypad lockout, and an optional locking cable security system.

The compact PG-A10X weighs 6.4 lbs. and measures 9.0-inches (L) by 11.7 inches (W) by 3.2-inches (H), and is bright enough for installation, yet durable and light enough for portable use. The PG-A10X is HDTV compatible and offers multiple inputs, including RGB, composite RCA, S-Video and RS-232C. The model is also "networkable" through its RS-232 input. The PG-A10X is equipped with sRGB color management, gamma adjust and multiple color temperature adjustments to sharpen its color output, contrast and gradation.

The Notevision PG-A10X is available at a list price of $3,395. Sharp will market this Value Series projector to end users through an integrated marketing program and through Sharp's authorized distribution channels. The PG-A10X is backed by a three-year parts and labor limited warranty, including two years of Sharp's "ER" Service, a 24-hour turnaround express repair program.

The PG-A10X and PG-A10S Value Series projectors are the latest additions to Sharp's award-winning family of Notevision and Conference Series projectors, and demonstrates the compatibility, ease of use and power that have propelled Sharp products to a position of world leadership in the A/V marketplace.

The Notevision PG-A10X is compatible with virtually any computer source, including PC, Mac or Workstation through its RGB input, as well as with video sources such as DVD, HDTV, VCR or video game stations. The model is equipped with a recessed zoom and focus lens and a built-in 1-watt audio system.

Presentation-Friendly
The Value Series projectors are designed with Sharp's PresenterPAK feature set, including a friendly graphical user interface (GUI) menu screen that is icon-based and uses common terminology rather than technical jargon. Computer and video inputs are color-coded to simplify setup for users when connecting cables to a PC, Mac or Workstation.
