Press Release  |  Mar 24, 2003

Gateway DLP Projectors Are Under Four Pounds and Three Inches Thick

POWAY, Calif., Mar. 24, 2002 - Gateway, Inc. (NYSE: GTW) today enters the small-medium business and public sector projector markets with two front projectors offering peak performance in a pint-sized package. Utilizing the latest DDR DLP* technology, the lightweight, yet rugged Gateway* Model 205 projector is perfect for education and government institutions that require a lightweight projector at an affordable price, while the Gateway* Model 210 is ideal for on-the-go professionals in sales and marketing and small and medium-sized companies.

"We're lightening the load for business professionals and educators by giving them projectors that deliver top performance in a sleek, compact package," said Dave Russell, Gateway's general manager of digital products. "As a leader in digital electronics, Gateway's introduction of two top-of-the-line projectors is a logical move for Gateway. The intuitive design makes the new projectors easy to use for professional and novice presenters alike, while the wide breadth of features enhances any presentation experience. Weighing under four pounds and just under three inches thin, the magnesium alloy Gateway projectors are built to last, yet can be easily transported and used for presentations almost anywhere. Both new Gateway* projectors connect quickly and easily to a variety of video sources and offer excellent contrast ratios to deliver subtle color details.

DLP* Technology Provides Crystal Clear Clarity
Based on Texas Instruments Digital Light Processing* technology, Gateway's new projectors provide vibrant video and graphics. DLP* technology reproduces source images more closely than other display solutions, resulting in a clearer projection. At the heart of DLP technology is the unique Digital Micromirror Device, which comprises an array of microscopic mirrors that reflect light more efficiently, thereby projecting a brighter picture. It's also more reliable than alternative technologies, since it's not susceptible to heat, humidity or vibration.

Gateway Model 205 SVGA: A New Level of Value
The Gateway* Model 205 with dimensions of 9.8" x 6.7" x 2.2" is one of the smallest, most competitively-priced projectors in its class. It delivers maximum value for business users and educators who require reliable performance in a portable package. The Gateway 205 also features DCDi(tm) digital video processing by Faroudja for high-quality video projection. It's perfect for use in a classroom or as part of a mobile cart solution. The projector has a radiant 1100 ANSI lumens, 800 x 600 SVGA resolution and a crisp 1100:1 contrast ratio. It's compatible with NTSC, 480p, 720p and 1080 video formats and offers an array of connectivity options including RGB, S-Video, Composite and USB. The Gateway* Model 205 SVGA is $1,399.

Gateway Model 210 XGA: Perfect Pixels - Optimum Flexibility
The Gateway* Model 210 is the ideal tool for corporations wanting the ultimate in performance and flexibility. It has a vibrant 1500 ANSI lumens, a 1024 x 768 XGA resolution and a high contrast ratio of 900:1. It measures just 9.1" x 9.6" x 2.7" and is compatible with a wide selection of video formats including NTSC, 480p, 720p and 1080i. This model offers maximum flexibility to suit various connectivity needs including RGB, DVI, USB, Y/Pb/Pr, S-Video and composite. The standard version supports various wired video sources, while an optional network module provides connectivity via 10/100 Ethernet, 802.11b wireless and USB. This network module has an embedded Windows CE operating system with application viewers allowing users to connect a USB flash drive to the module to make a quick presentation without a PC connection.
