BARCO Introduces Two New Projectors to its Award-Winning iQ (Pro) Series Product Line at NAB 2003

Press Release  |  Apr 7, 2003

iQ® G500 and iQ Pro G500 Series projectors enable videoconferencing and effective collaborative meetings between remote meeting rooms

Kennesaw, GA - April 7th, 2003 - BARCO is pleased to announce the introduction of two new projectors to the iQ and the iQ Pro Series product line at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention. Barco is exhibiting at NAB April 7 - 10, 2003 in the Las Vegas Convention Center, South Hall, booth number SL623.

Barco iQ G500
Based on three 1.4" polysilicon LCD panel technology, the iQ G500 offers a brightness level of 5,000 ANSI lumens and a high contrast Ratio of > 800:1, making it ideally suited for presentation, conference and training applications in meeting rooms and auditoriums. As part of the iQ Series, the iQ G500 offers several unique benefits, including advanced picture-in-picture, which enables the use of the iQ G500 during videoconferencing sessions, as the user can simultaneously display three sources on the screen, such as an image of the local audience, an image of the remote audience, and the presentation. The iQ G500 also offers seamless source switching, eliminating waiting intervals or warning messages when switching sources. The user is even able to choose a special effect such as fade in/out, without having the extra expense of purchasing external switchers. The projector also features dual-lamp design for added reliability.

Barco iQ Pro G500
The networked iQ Pro G500 offers the same functionality as the iQ G500, but has a powerful computer server integrated in the projector design. The iQ Pro G500 will increase business efficiency by accelerating the decision making process during (remote) meetings, as this advanced networked projector enables instant, collaborative meetings in between remote meeting sites.

Control over a projector can be passed instantly over LAN to any meeting location, which means changes made to a spread sheet in an office in Europe, can be viewed real-time in the office in US, and vice versa. Real-time interaction and file sharing with remote sites increases business efficiency by saving travel time and results in a in a positive effect on the user's Return On Investment (ROI).

The iQ Pro G500 is also ready for streaming media, as it allows the users to stream video material over the network. Frequently used video material can even be saved on the hard disk of the projector and retrieved from there. In addition, thanks to the integrated server, presenters no longer need to bring along their laptops to a meeting room. They can retrieve any file from the network, straight from the projector. A wireless keyboard and mouse control the projector.

The iQ Pro G500 also allows the user to save money on support and maintenance. Due to the integrated server in the projector, a fleet of projectors can be fully controlled over the network from the central IT Helpdesk. There is no need for support staff to run to meeting rooms to adjust projector settings. These adjustments can be made remotely and instantly (over the network) right from their desk. BARCO offers dedicated software called "Remote Control & Diagnostics" to enable remote Helpdesk support.
