Epson Launches PowerLite 7850p Portable Projector
with 3,500 Lumens and Out-Of-The-Box Networking Capabilities
New Epson PowerLite(R) 7850p Offers Both Wireless Connectivity and PC-Free Presenting
The EPSON PowerLite 7850p is an XGA-native (1,024 x 768) resolution projector that incorporates the company's latest 1-inch, high-aperture LCDs for maximum color saturation and accuracy. It features a 700:1 contrast ratio and weighs only 12.8 pounds, making it an ideal portable solution for presenting in a variety of medium to large conference rooms. While its video performance is optimized to meet today's most demanding business applications, it's the projector's array of networking features and other image enhancing technologies that separate it from its competitors.
Networking and EasyManagement(TM)
Presenters who use the EPSON PowerLite 7850p have the ability to connect their PC to this projector through a wide selection of video ports and a PCMCIA slot to accommodate either 802.11b (WiFi) wireless technology or a hard-wired LAN card. There are two wireless modes for individual or LAN users that enable one's PC and the projector to be positioned independently for optimal viewing and control. This is especially beneficial for situations with multiple presenters since each participant can seamlessly connect their PC to the projector without having to handle video cables.
Another convenient method for delivering presentations is one that requires no PC at all. The PowerLite 7850p takes advantage of a new version of Epson EasyMP, a built-in feature that includes a PCMCIA card slot that not only enables users to run presentations from the projector using a memory card, but also save them to that storage device. This enhanced version of EasyMP also allows for high-speed image transfers and more animation and PowerPoint(R) functionality than before.
The EPSON PowerLite 7850p's networking capabilities are designed to make life easier not only for the presenter, but also for IS personnel. A feature called EasyManagement enables them to monitor, maintain and control the projector from a remote location using Epson's utility programs or their Web browser.
"The Epson PowerLite 7850p really is the ideal solution for office buildings and IS departments since its equipped to handle virtually any presentation requirement and can be monitored and controlled from a variety of locations," said Aaron Marinari, product manager, Epson. "We believe the combination of these features coupled with outstanding image quality make this product a very smart investment for any organization."
A password-protected feature that disables the projector, reduces the likelihood of theft and unauthorized use. Furthermore, an e-mail notification system is designed to alert network users about vital issues related to the projector's current temperature, fan operation and when it's time to replace a lamp.
Easy Installation, Setup and Operation
The PowerLite 7850p's setup is simplified with innovative features such as Quick Corner(TM) -- a new onscreen interface that lets users make keystone corrections (+/- 40-degree vertical, +/- 20-degree horizontal) to compensate for small or odd-shaped rooms.
A feature called Wall Shot(TM) makes it easier than ever to project presentations in rooms where no screen or large white surface is available. Wall Shot analyzes the color of the projection surface as well as the room's lighting and then automatically compensates its output to create images that appear more natural on that colored surface.
Furthermore, multiple lens options are available for added installation flexibility, and depending on the environment, users can choose between two levels of brightness on this projector, either 3,500 or 2,500 ANSI lumens. This feature not only allows for more visual control, but also reduces fan noise and can extend lamp life.
Price, Availability and Support
The PowerLite 7850p is currently available for $5,399 (estimated street price) through authorized pro audio/visual dealers, national distribution, catalog and direct PC dealers, and select PC retailers throughout the country.
