Canon's Newest LCD Projectors Brilliantly Deliver the Big Picture in Small Spaces with a Powerful Punch

Press Release  |  Sep 3, 2003

Canon's Microportable LV-7215, LV-7210 and LV-5210 Models Project a 100" Image from A Very Short 'Throw Distance'

Canon's new line of LCD projectors display presentations with punch...and throw that punch from a mere 8.2 feet away from a screen, a wall or virtually any other selected surface. Thanks to Canon's optical and engineering excellence - including a powerful 1.6x Canon ultra-wide zoom lens - the versatile LV-7215, LV-7210 and LV-5210 microportable LCD projectors - all produce dramatic, theater-sized images, even in small office and classroom settings.

Those extra-large images heighten the impact of sales presentations; enhance the effect of multimedia classroom curricula; sharpen audience response, recall and retention of materials, and make Canon's new champion trio of lightweight projectors a first-round knockout with users.

The LV-7215, LV-7210 and LV-5210 microportable LCD projectors will make their debut in mid-September for suggested list prices of $3,499, $2,499 and $1,999, respectively.

"These new, easy-to-use LCD projectors combine the precision of Genuine Canon optics with high-powered light sources ranging from 2000 to 2500 lumens and a resolution that keeps images crisp and compelling," says Yukiaki Hashimoto, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Consumer Imaging Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. (NYSE: CAJ). "Remarkably, the LV-7215, LV-7210 and LV-5210 models provide all this picture power in a compact 6.4 lb. package, proving that, even in tight spaces, from little projectors mighty presentations grow."

For even greater flexibility, all three projectors support Canon's new optional networking accessories including a Multi Card Imager (LV-MI01), Wired LAN Card (LV-WN01), Wireless LAN Card (LV-WN02) and Compact Flash Card (LV-WN03). Ideal for the conference room, the Wireless LAN Card makes it easy for presenters to send a document from computer to projector without stretching cumbersome hookups. The Wired LAN Card combines with the supplied LAN cable for connecting the projector directly to a network, perfect for controlling the projector from a central location, scheduling operation and transmitting image files or documents. For users that need to travel as light as possible, the Compact FlashCard allows projection of digital images without even using a computer.

The heart of the new Canon LV-7215, LV-7210, and LV-5210 LCD projectors' presentation prowess is Canon's latest achievement, the exclusive ultra-wide 1.6x zoom lens. The units' surprisingly short "throw distance" (the distance between the lens and the screen) permits extra-large, 100" images to be projected from only 8.2 feet away, maximizing visual impact in almost any environment from classrooms and small conference rooms to family rooms and dens.

"Whether for business or educational applications or as part of a home theater system, these three LCD projectors offer users the advantages of exceptional brightness, clarity and of course Canon quality," Hashimoto added.

The Canon LV-7215 projector offers the brilliance of 2500 ANSI lumens and a crisp Native XGA resolution and runs at an exceptionally quiet 35dB. The LV-7215 also features progressive scan circuitry for converting a 480i/575i signal to progressive, for an even cleaner picture when projecting a TV signal. For total connectivity, The LV-7215 projector includes a DVI-I terminal for linking to a computer and it accepts a variety of inputs for easy use with such peripherals as DVD players, HDTV receivers, VCRs, digital camcorders and digital cameras.

Canon's LV-7210 model makes presentations "pop" with Native XGA Resolution and 2000 ANSI lumens for clarity, detail and brightness even under challenging conditions while new optional networking accessories expand the possibilities even further in the classroom or conference room. Like the LV-7215, the LV7210-projector also runs at 35db and features progressive scan circuitry (making it an ideal addition to a home theater setup as well as the DVI-I terminal for total connectivity.

The new Canon LV-5210 displays larger than life images with Native SVGA resolution and 2000 ANSI lumens. Here again, Canon's exclusive ultra-wide 1.6x zoom lens permits projection of a 100" image from just 8.2 feet away, and its progressive scan circuitry makes TV watching a big picture production. The LV-5210 projector also features the DVI-I total connectivity terminal and quieter operation (35dB) than the previous generation.
