Mitsubishi Digital Electronics Expands Anti-theft Line of Professional Installation Projectors
Low-Cost, Large-Venue XL5900 ColorView Equipped with Exclusive Motion-Sensitive Theft Alarm
IRVINE, Calif., September 17, 2003 — Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America's Presentation Products Division, maker of award-winning, high-quality presentation and display products, today introduced the newest projector in its security-equipped line of products, the XL5900 ColorView. The XL5900 ColorView now allows Mitsubishi Digital to offer a value-version LCD projector equipped with the industry's first built-in motion-sensitive anti-theft alarm feature. The alarm, formerly available only on Mitsubishi Digital's flagship projector XL5950U, is designed to deter projector theft from unattended classrooms, meeting and boardrooms, hotel facilities or other easy-access conference room settings.
The security device on the projector is sensitive and audibly effective. It is cleverly tucked in the new beauty cover of the projector that hides unsightly connections and cords. The unique device can be set manually by a key. Once the cover is installed and the safety key removed, the projector is automatically armed. If the projector is moved without disarming the alarm, a loud and annoying beep will sound a high pitch alarm, attracting attention and foiling any potential theft.
"More and more often, shared facilities such as meeting areas are unattended when not in use during businesses, schools and conference hours," said James Chan, director, projector product marketing for Mitsubishi Digital. "Our customers have been experiencing a higher frequency of loss due to theft in these rooms. This new protected device minimizes the loss and protects these costly investments. Most importantly, it ensures and maintains the professional presentation capabilities of the facility "
The XL5900 ColorView shines in 3900 ANSI lumens with color enhanced by Mitsubishi's own proprietary 3D CineView™ video technology based on Mitsubishi Digital's television expertise. Flickering, artifacts, crawling or blinking are significantly reduced producing an image as sharp and smooth as its native film format. Mitsubishi's Natural Color Matrix also ensures rich, vivid color for more creative and powerful screen presentations.
The projector is the only one in its class to provide both horizontal and vertical lens shift, offering extreme flexibility for most installations. Once in place, the picture on the XL5900 ColorView can be readjusted optically or digitally, regardless of the screen used, without taking the projector out of its mount.
"We continue to bring our exclusive dealer network the widest array of products with the most varied feature sets, appropriate options and the most competitive pricing," said Aki Ninomiya, director, Mitsubishi Digital. "We know that this new XL5900 will help our customers offer a broader set of solutions to the markets they serve."
Other features of the XL5900 include a high contrast ratio, 600:1, and one of Mitsubishi Digital's latest innovations, the upgraded Picture-in-Picture feature, which now offers two live images rather than just one. Unlike other projectors, each picture contains a simultaneous live feed from a computer and a video source, allowing users greater flexibility in creating their presentations.
The XL5900 ColorView is fully compatible with Mitsubishi Digital's exclusive ProjectorView™ networking system, which connects its projectors via an external serial-to-Ethernet translator. With ProjectorView, projectors are instantly connected to a local area network (LAN) through an assigned IP address, and controlled and monitored with a web browser from a node in the LAN or through the Internet, offering increased service and security flexibility.
