NEC Technologies Unveils Industry's Lightest, Brightest Notebook-size Projectors

INFOCOMM, Orlando, Fla., June 10, 1999 -- Pushing the envelope in the ultra-portable category, NEC Technologies, Inc. today introduced the lightest and brightest projectors on the market, the MultiSync® LT84 and MultiSync LT140. Lighter than most notebook computers available today, the MultiSync LT84 and LT140 weigh just 5.3 and 5.5 pounds, respectively. The MultiSync LT84 offers native SVGA resolution and 700 ANSI lumens, while the MultiSync LT140 offers native XGA resolution and 800 ANSI lumens.

NEC Technologies has set the standard for global service and support, which continues in the new line of MultiSync LT Series projectors. All MultiSync projectors come standard with an industry leading array of service and support packages, including InstaCare® (24-hour replacement or 72-hour repair and return), InstaCare XpressSM (next available flight service) and TravelCareSM (For international travelers).

"We hold the enviable position of being the only manufacturer to offer a complete line of visual presentation systems," explained Mike Santiago, director of marketing for NEC Technologies’ Visual Systems Division. "This new line of ‘notebook size’ projectors offers the greatest combination of features, service and support, and lightweight design to meet the demanding needs of the presentation professional."

Each projector is further enhanced by high-end features, such as a built-in presentation viewer for true portability and a credit card size remote control that stores directly into a slot in the projector. The projectors also feature an on-board Universal Serial Bus port for mouse control and compatibility with future peripheral offerings. "These are the ideal projectors for any professional who needs to make presentations on the road," said Robert Guentner, marketing manager for ultra-portable projectors for NEC Technologies’ Visual Systems Division. "Not only are they lightweight and easy to transport, but the MultiSync LT84 and LT140 offer users brighter images, better focus and more accurate color representation in a feature-rich package.

Creating the Perfect Presentation Image

Built around an advanced electronics system, both the MultiSync LT84 and LT140 incorporate Texas Instruments’ Digital Light Processing (DLP™) reflective single-chip technology to display information. Furthermore, NEC Technologies has once again incorporated its exclusive advanced AccuBlend™ intelligent pixel-blending technology into these new projectors, effectively providing high-resolution images without the loss of data.

While other technologies simply drop pixels or lines, resulting in a visible absence of information that can obscure important parts of your presentation, AccuBlend is an intelligent compression technology that blends and remaps input data to match the available pixels on the DLP chip.

The projector’s advanced electronic system also provides users with a new easy-to-use, drop-down on-screen menu system, which was developed to simulate the look and feel of a Windows®-based system. The drop-down menu offers users quick access to projector functions as well as allows for selection of an on-screen pointing device.

Other benefits of the advanced electronic system include horizontal and vertical keystone correction, advanced auto-sync technology, full resolution display of wide aspect mode sources and complete HDTV compatibility.

The MultiSync LT84 and LT140 can be used to present from a notebook computer, video source or directly from the projector using the built-in presentation viewer. The PC Card Viewer allows the user to save the entire presentation onto a compact flash card and leave the laptop at the office, hotel or car, once again lightening the user’s overall load.

The new MultiSync LT Series projectors will be available through NEC’s nationwide network of audio/visual and computer resellers in August with exact pricing to be announced.
