Toshiba's New MT800 High-Definition DLP(TM) Front Projector Now Available

Press Release  |  Sep 10, 2004

Toshiba also announces introduction of affordable HD DLP projector

CEDIA, INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Toshiba America Consumer Products, L.L.C. a leader in advanced digital display and home theater technology, announced today that its TDPMT800 high definition DLP front projector is now shipping. Also available now, and on display at CEDIA, is Toshiba's new TDPMT200 DLP projector.

"Our home theater front projector line continues to evolve. Because our goal is to create the best possible picture quality, we are now focused on DLP. This fall we will market two hot DLP models, and by Q1, we will introduce our third, rounding out the line," said Scott Ramirez, Toshiba's Vice President of Marketing. "The MT800 offers a truly spectacular HD experience for the high-end home cinema customer. This is the model for the consumer that is unwilling to compromise. But, if price is more of a factor, the MT200 offers a high quality choice for the customer who concentrates on DVD viewing. Regardless of the application, Toshiba will have the right option for your home theater."

The MT800 HD projector is geared toward the high-end home theater enthusiast.

This DLP powered model features the HD2+ DLP engine with 1280 x 720 pixels for true 16:9 high-definition images (accepting signals up to 1080p).

The HD2+ engine features 10-Bit Color Depth, with a 7-Segment Color Wheel that includes a neutral density green segment for smoother, more natural images. The chip itself has also been improved by filling in the small indentations, or 'Via's', in the mirrors for further increased brightness and contrast. The MT800 also incorporates an improved high-focus lens system from renowned German manufacturer Carl Zeiss. In addition, it includes the Faroudja(TM) DCDI+ de-interlacer/scaler with 3:2 pull down conversion. The results are dramatic, including a significantly cleaner image, and a color corrected contrast ratio of 2200:1, at 1100 ANSI lumens.

The MT800 also boasts precise feature control and functional design expected from Toshiba products. In addition to horizontal and vertical Keystone Adjustment, full user adjustments include Gamma Control, Sharpness Control, User Definable Color, Temperature Control (standard at 6500K), Memory Settings by input, and Discrete IR Codes. The projector also features a complement of inputs for home theater system connectivity with two sets of ColorStream(R) HD high-resolution Component Video inputs, DVI (M1-DA) with HDCP, RS232C Port, IR Input Port, and a 12V Screen Trigger Port.

Toshiba's line also includes the new TDPMT200 DLP home theater front projector, featuring a native 16:9 480p resolution DLP chip, with 2000:1 contrast ratio for improved image quality. This unit includes digital keystone correction and a user friendly On Screen Menu. Connectivity includes DVI with HDCP, to accept full HD signals. This new projector is optimized for DVD viewing, and provides a cost effective approach to quality home theater.

In addition, Toshiba announced it will expand its exciting DLP Home Theater Front Projector line-up with the addition of a third new model in the first quarter of next year.
