New High-Throw XD480U Projector from Mitsubishi Digital Electronics AmericaReduces Image Distortion and Keystoning; XD480U ColorView Projector Makes Set-up Quick and Easy
IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 16, 2004--Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America's Presentation Products Division, marketer of high-quality presentation and display products, today introduced its latest answer to a frustrating, yet common projector set-up problem. Mitsubishi's new XD480U ColorView(TM) projector reduces annoying image distortion encountered by mobile professionals at presentation sites where the conference table is often too low or the screen is too high.
Each presentation room design is unique, with screens or white boards at different heights, making it difficult for projectors to reach these screens properly. In many meeting rooms the projector sits on a 30-inch-high table and must throw an image on a screen hanging four feet from the floor. This creates a distorted image and gaps on the screen. And in classrooms where screens and electronic white boards are typically 72 inches high, a ceiling-mounted projector installed to meet the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements will also have gaps and distortion.
"Our newest projectors, the XD480U, XD450U and the XD400U, now offer a higher built-in throw and can target a picture-perfect image under almost any condition," said James Chan, director, projector product marketing for Mitsubishi's Presentation Products Division. "No more searching for phone books to put under a projector to correct the problem."
With a higher-than-normal throw ratio, the XD480U ColorView projects an image to a screen from a standard height table while staying completely level with the table surface. The projector also comes with digital horizontal and vertical keystone correction for image-perfect presentations in more challenging situations. This combination of features makes set-up simple while quickly reducing or eliminating image distortion.
The XD480U complements the XD400U and XD450U family by bringing increased brightness to the line's excellent video performance and lamp life. The ultra-portable XD480U ColorView weighs only 6.5 pounds, is easy to move and light enough to take anywhere on the road. And with its flexibility to shoot at screens of different heights, set-up is easy and efficient, which is important for all presenters.
The XD480U ColorView offers XGA (1024 x 768 pixels) resolution fueled by DLP(TM) chip technology. It shines brilliantly with 3000 ANSI lumens, plenty of brightness for even the most demanding office environments. The projector also offers Mitsubishi's proprietary CineView(TM) Extended Definition video processing technology for smoother, artifact-free video performance. With a 2200:1 contrast ratio for more detail in dark areas, it's bound to impress video enthusiasts as well.
The Mitsubishi XD480U offers two sets of RGB inputs and one S-Video and composite video input, along with a third DVI-D input for connection to signal sources. Monitor output and variable audio output add to the versatility of the XD480U ColorView in supporting various applications, including HDTV signals coming from set-top boxes that require High Bandwidth, Digital Content Protection (HDCP) compliance.
When operating in a low lamp mode, the cost of ownership is reduced with a longer life lamp that lasts up to 5,000 hours, making the Mitsubishi XD480U ColorView an extremely economical choice in the long-term. The projector also runs very quietly, at 30 dBA, essentially eliminating any distracting fan noise. The universal learning remote control unit included with the projector is back by popular demand. It is easily programmed to operate two additional video sources, such as a DVD player or VCR, allowing presenters to switch effortlessly between display sources and eliminating the need for expensive adjunct control systems typical with other projectors.
"Our customers need quick set-up features along with brilliant performance in a cost-efficient projector," said Aki Ninomiya, vice president, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America's Presentation Products Division. "The new XD480U ColorView meets those needs perfectly."
Pricing, Availability, Warranty
The new XD480U ColorView has an estimated street price of $3,995, and is available now through authorized Mitsubishi dealers. It comes with a 3-year limited warranty on parts and labor, plus a 90-day limited warranty on the lamp. Like all Mitsubishi ColorView projectors, it is covered under the Express Replacement Assistance (ERA) Program, a nationwide comprehensive service provided for units under warranty that offers next-business-day replacement for down units.
