Sharp Previews Expanded Professional Projector Line

New LCD and DLP™ projectors are ideal for educational and business presentations
LAS VEGAS, NV, June 8, 2005 -- Sharp is introducing six new professional projectors, including four competitively-priced DLP™ "Educator Series" models and two high-brightness, Conference Series LCD-based projectors at InfoComm 2005. These exciting models, combined with the current line of installation-ready projectors, will enable Sharp to deliver the right display solution for the classroom, boardroom, lecture hall or any collaborative meeting space.

"Sharp is fulfilling the presentation needs of our customers by delivering reliable, cost-effective projector choices that help professionals produce clear business presentations," said Bruce Pollack, associate director of marketing, Sharp LCD Products Division. "Our new line incorporates both DLP and LCD technology, which gives professionals a suite of options to best suit their needs and maximize performance."

Recognizing customer preferences and specific requirements, Sharp's new portable, conference/classroom and installation-based projectors provide the right solution for any customer application from the road warrior to a high-end corporate, government, university or house-of-worship installation.

At InfoComm, Sharp is showcasing the following eleven professional projectors:
New "Educator Series" Projectors (Models XR-20X, XR-20S, XR-10X, XR-10S): Sharp's new "Educator" series of projectors feature increased brightness and sharper resolution for any multimedia projection challenge. These four new models feature the latest Texas Instruments DLP™ technology with TrueVision (DDP200) image processing for seamless use in educational or business presentations. The projectors can be used in virtually any lighting environment with brightness levels ranging from 1750 to 2300 ANSI Lumens. Perfect for both commercial and "home" crossover video use, the projectors display an exceptionally clear picture with sharp resolution and high contrast ratio of 2000:1. To enhance color accuracy, the new Educator Series incorporates a 4-segment, 3X speed color wheel, which ensures uniform images with crisp detail. On-screen interactive help makes set-up simple and a wireless remote with built-in PC control makes operation easy from anywhere in the room.

Brightness and resolution specifications for these new Educator models are as follows:
XR-20X: 2300 ANSI Lumens, XGA (1024 x 768) native resolution
XR-20S: 2300 ANSI Lumens, SVGA (800 x 600) native resolution
XR-10X: 2000 ANSI Lumens, XGA (1024 x 768) native resolution
XR-10S: 2000 ANSI Lumens, SVGA (800 x 600) native resolution

New High Brightness Conference Series LCD Projectors (models XG-C68X and XG-C58X):
The new Conference Series LCD Projectors are ideal for installation in classrooms, conference rooms and collaborative work environments. A step-up in performance from Sharp's earlier XG-C60X and XG-C55X models, the portable XG-C68X and XG-C58X combine versatility, portability and affordability with features that include an "L" type optical system, color management system, multilevel theft deterrents and simple yet extensive connectivity options. Combining XGA native resolution (1024 x 768) with high brightness (3600 ANSI Lumens in the XG-C68X and 3300 ANSI Lumens in the XG-C58X), these units produce brilliant presentations by projecting flawless images. Ceiling mountable, and with a choice of lens options, the projectors can be used in most any customer application, including conference rooms, lecture halls, special events and other permanent installations. The projectors have dual lamp modes for increased lamp life and a separate cooling system on each LCD panel to help maintain a low total cost of ownership. The projectors also offer extensive security features including key code start-up, Notevision "Lockdown," optional ceiling mount cable lock system and Kensington lock compatibility.

Conference Series DLP™ Projectors (models XG-MB70X and PG-MB60X):
This mid-range projector series is easy to install, with a full slate of features including short-throw power zoom lenses, wireless remote with mouse control, extensive connectivity and theft deterrent options. A built-in RJ-45 LAN connection in the XG-MB70X allows for remote control, diagnostics and asset management over a Local Area Network - including the ability to monitor lamp life and anticipate bulb replacement timing. With extremely low fan noise, the projectors are quiet enough to use in a boardroom or classroom / lecture hall setting. Users can select the brightness setting that works best for their environment, as the line has ANSI lumens ratings that range from 3000 (XG-MB70X) to 2500 (PG-MB60X). Weighing approximately 8-9 pounds, the projectors can be transported easily and used for mobile applications.

System Integration / Venue Series (model XG-PH50X):
For the high-end installation/ integration market, comprised of larger lecture halls, houses of worship, conference facilities, rental and staging, and NOC command and control, the "PH" Series offers the highest brightness with an intelligent dual-lamp optical system. This system offers redundant reliability in critical applications and installations. Users can choose between four levels of brightness ranging from 4000 to 1600 ANSI lumens, to meet the needs of any environment. With sealed optics combined with DDR DLP technology, this system allows for reliable operation during extended usage applications and decreases the overall cost of ownership by managing lamp life. The unit is bright enough to project a brilliant image in larger venues and versatile enough to assimilate data from multiple sources into a crystal-clear image. This series also contains a built-in RJ-45 LAN connection for remote control, diagnostics and asset management.

Micro-Mobile "Pico" Projectors (models XR-1X, XR-1S):
These ultra-compact models combine high brightness and high quality Carl Zeiss™ optics along with the latest advances in DDR DLP technology. About the size of a pair of paperback novels, the units measure 9.7 (W) x 2.5 (H) x 4.8 (D) inches and weigh just over three pounds, the perfect on-the-road presentation companions. The XGA native resolution XR-1X, with a brightness of 1200 lumens and 2000:1 contrast ratio, is a step up from the 1100 lumens and 1500:1 contrast ratio in the SVGA resolution XR-1S.
