Personal Experience
This is what I have:

NECLT240K projector
LiteOn LVW 5005A DVD player/recorder

Until two days ago I was using S-video output and
throwing the image on a wall (which by the way is
not even smooth). Throw distance about 11 feet
and image size about 10 feet (diagonal) and was
very satisfied with the picture quality. Day
before yesterday I hooked it with a component
video cable ($14) using NEC component vide adaptor
(ADP-CV1 - $19) via RGB port and set the dvd
player in progressive scan mode and inserted "Day
after Tomorrow" dvd, what I saw is beyond
description. The movie looked so good, I may
never go to a theatre and would probably not
worry about buying a projector screen for some
time. That's the huge compliment to this superb
machine considering that I'm not using top of
the line dvd plyr, I don't have a projector
screen and I'm using a cheap component video
cable.

Problems
Since I've not fixed the projector permanently,
and it's manual focus ring is covered by a lens
cover, you may need to adjust the focus when you
remove the lens cover. Couldn't come up with a
solution except installing it permanently. Not
a big issue since I'll be installing it sometime
in the future.
