I have owned this PJ for over a year and have not had one problem yet. I am a professional photographer and I use it EVERY day at work and some weekends.
For the money the picture is very good, especially after you get a cable that goes from the component out to RGB in.
Something no one told me was if you use a laptop make sure you set the resolutoin on the laptop to 1024x768, the native rsolution of the PJ. If you don't you will get washed out colors and poor clarity.
As far as I am concerened it's a workhorse.
My family and I watch movies on it all the time. It's not ideal for movies because it is 4:3 ratio but I get the full screen DVDs so it doesn't seem to matter.
As for rainbow effect, I had to look for it. After I got bored with looking for it, I don't even notice it. You really have to TRY to see it. Not an issue for me and no one notices until you say something. I'm really not sure how that ever became such an issue on DLP units.
The PJ does more way more than I will ever need. It's completley saturated with features, like every electronic gadget is theese days.
Nothing. Not one problem. I use it constantly. Nothing to report
